Yes I am the guy who went thru the puddle. It was only about a foot high when I went thru it and I was crawling. I just got done taking the prybar to the cat so it is hollow now. I am going to change the plugs and plug wire hopefully tommorow or after this hurricane blows over. The plugs have about 4K on them but I believe the wires are bone stock. I can't be sure but I will tell you they are red. I also believe the FF is original too. If it still acts goofy after all that I will be taking it to the Subaru Dealer to have them tell me what is wrong with it. Nobody addressed the severe brake like action after I let off the gas. And yes it did sorta shake under load. I would mash the gas to get the power light to come on but that was a joke. I had to use "power just to get out of it's own way." I love my Subarus and Jeep Cherokee. Both very capable 4WD vehicles. The Jeep has cold air.

My car is pretty much dead in the driveway now. It was running great the other night and now it hesitates real bad and barely wants to operate under her own power. I was thinking it is the cat again, so I put my hand near the muffler tip and it is suuuuper hot. My wife said it felt like her feet were on fire the other day when we were taking a trip and when I let off the gas peddle she slowsx down like I am putting the breaks on. Maybe the cat is acting like a Jake brake. Anybody want to chime in on this. All advice is greatly appreciated. I am either going to gut the cat or just do away with it all together. Which ever is easier considering I don't have welding equipment and I am broke as a joke thanks to two hurricanes. The one that hit my house and the other aiming for it. Thanks god I have a jeep cherokee that I can depend on as well.

I did what josh did and went to a yard and got the single DIN cubby and pocket. I also used the ISO (japanese mounting system) in my new radio to keep it in there. If you bought a system with a detachable faceplate then you might not need the trim ring that comes with your new deck. I had to remove mine with my new JVC. It looks super sharp too. Hope this helps. Oh yeah...the single din cubby gives you a bigger pocket too.

I just wanted to turn evrybody onto a show called Chop ,Cut, Rebuild. I believe it is on the speed network but I could be wrong. Please check your local listings for dates and times. They are doing a WRX and let me tell you it is nice. It is white with WR blue pearl flames. The car is already tricked out but they are taking it's performace to the max. "You are ...who is she?"- My wife "But honey it was a WRX."-me Little did she know I was thinking of Alicia Keys butt naked behind the wheel, taking turns at a high rate off speed and singing to me in between whispering sweet nothing in my ear. (I should probably wake up now)

The inner TR can be replace while the rack is on the vehicle. You will need a large adjustable wrench (cresent) and a good set or ramps or jackstands. I like to use ramps so the wheels do not move like they tend to do when being suspended. Once you have the outer TR out of the spindle, hang them with bungee or the likes and move to the inners. Be prepared to have your arms in the air for sometime. Undo the clamp on the boot towards the rack and slide it out of the way. Using your LAW, undo the ITR. If you can afford it, replace the inner and outter tie rod at the same time. It is really easy this way and you can match the old against the new assuming you didn't mess with the old assemblys lenght. Assembly is reverse order. As with any steering or suspension work, it is always a good idea to have you vehicle aligned. I hope this helps. You can do it. I have faith in you...

I was just going to gut the cat or replace it with a deletion pipe. I will most likely leave the rest of it alone. Although my wife can't stand the rattle of the exhaust sheilds so maybe I will do some more mods. Maybe a custom res and a sweet flowmaster? OR skip the Res and go straight to a flowmaster. Hmmm... Anybody know if they list a flowmaster for this car? Or univeral? What is the SAE size of the pipe?

Let the next hurricane take out my computer. I have a contract through Dell, HP, Compaq and IBM, I'm sure getting a new computer won't be a problem. Besides I will just use my laptop until the new one arrives. Wait...I also failed to mention that I am contracted through Blue Current. They could send me a whole pallet of computers. Without people like me this board wouldn't exist. IT professionals keep this entire planet running smoothly. I hope the next hail storm or twister takes out something you worked hard for you arse!

Try to find a used one or spring for the new one. Trust me you will be better off. I use to drive a tow truck and it will cost you a pretty penny each way. About 30 to 50 eazy...each way. Then the use of the hoist. Justo go to Chekers and get one. To offset the cost you can rent it to your friends and family, and it is easy to store and travel with. You will be sooooo happy you bought one. 99% of the time they come with a leveler too....I don't know if the rental will come with one and not to mention chains. The new one will most likely come with chains if it has the leveler. Either way I hope you do what is best for you. If I still lived in CO I would have brought mine over and gave you a hand. A friend in need is a friend in deed.

For all those people who knocked me or think that Wendys shouldn't pay....just pray that nothing like this happens to you. I got screwed by one hurricane and am about to get F'd by another and yall think big money corporate america shouldn't pay for my radiator that their Lake (which happens ever time it rains) caused and that they did nothing to try and prevent or warn their patrons about. If I hit a deer then the deer will be dead and it got what it deserved. If I run over a small animal and it gets sucked into my engine then I am sure it is dead too....and it got what it deserved as well. If Wendy lake flooded their store and cause $180.00 in damage, then we would be even. In the words of the late Brad Nowell of (my favorite band) SUBLIME, "I heard that paybacks a Mother F'in b*tch." For those of you who think I will just take it, or chalk it up to bad luck....think again. I will get results. I am kindly asking that nobody else replys to this thread. Lets focus our attention to the real reason why this board was created, our love of Subarus. Not Dumb arses like me driving through a lake in my mother-in-laws 99 Nissan Maxima.

Finally...somone who feels my pain. After Hurrican Frances there was a boil water order in affect for much of our area. This meant that alot of restaurants we not open because they could not wah their dishes or produce. Wouldn't you know it, Wendys was the only restaurant open but they would not put lettuce or tomatoes on anything. So instead of doing what everyone one else did, they just jipped their customers out of what we ordered. Please remember there was no water in their parking lot after Frances, just when TS Ivan passed by recently. I personally don't think they care about their customers or their employees for that matter. I guess that is why they are called "McJobs." I can't remember the last time I saw the same employee twice at that location. What does that tell you? It's Florida, it rains everyday! IF you are prone to flooding you will flood. The Wendys isn't a new store by any means. Nothing has changed at that store. I thank everyone for their comments and I will be contacting the local store today to try and get results and if nothing happens there I will take it to the corporate level. At this point I am not so much concerend with my car but with the ongoing problem at Wendsy and the effects it could have on other vehicles. Thanks again.

I drove thru the lake in my Roo because I knew it could and to piss off all the people that were staring at me and wondering why I could get thru it and not their volvo's or Nissans. It wasn't raining when I was racing, it had stopped. Big differencein FL, it dries up quickly. I also don't think the senior citizen behind the wheel had enough strength to push the car to it's limits. LOL Damn sowbirds. Just another old man making up for the lack of something by buying a sports car.

The lake was not cuased by France, it was caused by a rainstorm cause by TS Ivan. (go figure) The rear of the restaurant was bone dry but the front of the restaurant (where the drive thru line exits) was underwater. As you can tell I cam in through the rear exit. There is no way to see what lurked ahead due to foilage surronding the establishment and once in line I was unable to see past the sea of vehicle ahead of me. Please remember it was lunch time and I was one of about 15-20 cars waiting in line. There was noway out of this. How do I post a picture? I have a picture of the damage donw to the rad.

While you are under there find out ho many cats there are. I was looking under my Roo and notice 3 large items. cat, res, muffler? I am contemplating doing away with the cat but I want to know what I am getting into before I do. You pretty much have to pull the entire exhaust off just to delete te cat. If you end up doing it please keep us updated.

YOU ARSE! I lost half my roof, my pool, and my fence and you have the nerve to tell me I shouldn't complain! In case you can not read I live in PORT ST. LUCIE, FL. Say it with me now, "where the eyewall of Hurricane Frances came ashore, which was a catagory two storm packing 105mph winds." You can't prepare enough for those things. I stayed behind and rode it out while the rest of my neighborhood fled like cowards. So do you see why I am livid at you and Wendys. In case people do not know, the fan blades on a 99 altima are very flexible. The blades on my 90 Roo aren't so flexible. And besides.....the Roo is a better car that will last 10 times longer than any 5yr car. (anything made recently)

It was SI-2, there was no snow, and no joke either. You must think I whipped him from a dead stop. We all know that wouldn't happen. 90 MPH flying through traffic on US. 1 and I stomped him. It had just rained so I think he might have been hesitant to get up on the gas. Either way i won. Nuthin but the tail lights sucker! Hope he "enjoyed the ride."

I just wanted to sing redlines praises. I put a bottle in the Roo and drove home from the parts store. When I pulled up in the driveway the car wasn't shaking like it was because of the rough idle. There was better throttle response and I actually kicked a 350z's tail in a little road racing. (the truth) He was not happy at all. Where can I get redline trany fluid? They had the additive and the oil but no tranny fluid. Please advise. I can't wait to do a $40.00 oil change. How long wil the Synth oil last?

Thanks for the legal mumbo jumbo. I will tell Wendy everything you just said. If I could remember it. I purchased a new radiator and am in the process of installing it (taking a break) as we speak. I am just very upset that wendys did nothing to try to avoid the problem...like pump some water out...put up a warning sign, made an anouncment when I was at the speaker...just something to aviod the hefty repair bill. I will be taking the radiator to the restaurant this afternoon and showing them what can happen to smal import cars when being forced to drive through Lake Wendy. Thank you all for your advise. It has been really helpfull.
