Driving with AWD off and on
For the most part I run with it off. The power split is 90 front and 10 Rear. I noticed it saves more on my tires the most but it does help the gas situation. Hope this helps.

Driving with AWD off and on
I installed it apon moving to FL so I could turn it on and off when it starts raining (FL drivers foreget how to drive when the roads turn wet) so I am more prepared than grandpa in his caddy. I haven't used it yet but I am tempted. Anymore thoughts?

Driving with AWD off and on
As yall may know I have a 90 Legacy L Wagon AWD Auto. Seeing as to how I was a professional car audio installer and am now an MCSE IT Consultant, I installed a toggle switch and in-line fuse for my AWD override under the hood. I nver really thought about the effects of doing this though. Is it safe to engage and disengage while at low and high speed? Should the vehicle be in park only? Does it matter if I do it with the car running? Come on Scooby junkies....step up to the plate on this one. No guesses please. I need solid facts. I am most likely going to be selling her soon, or making it a semi-rally car but I would still like to know. I don't think my wife would let me keep three cars for off-road only.

I hope nobody got affended, I was just kidding. I still want an LSD though. There are not too many older roos in FL so I figure I would have to get one from someone up north.

Whats in there????
Where is the love? If I found one and you really needed it like I did then I would sell it to you. But then again I have a trail rated jeep 4X4 that would run circles around my Subaru all day, everyday. Just what I need...to be spending more money on my toy. I will sell it to you if I find one. ARE YOU HAPPY. You took my fun away. LOL

Whats in there????
I get the point..it was an option. Unless it was a 91 turbo. Now where can I get one? Now that the master has explained that it is only an option...find me one. I don't care where it is, I will have it shipped. Just the diff. Not the shafts, not the rims and tires...just the DIFF!!! I NEED LSD!!!! (that doesn't sound too good)

Whats in there????
This now brings me to my next question.... are they all geared the same? I know my jeep was available with about a dozen different gearing options. Was my Subaru? I like to take my DD Off-raod now and then and I am really not big into getting stuck so that LSD would be nice. We have alot of sand down here so I would like to take my waggy in the dunes and play with all the over priced 4bys and their HUGE tires. I just like to see the look on their faces when a legacy flys past them with little to no effort.

Legacy "AT Close" switch?
coloradosubarules replied to paulr's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy educated guess would be that it has something to do with the shift points. Probably decreses the lenght of time in any gear before shifting to the next. I only have a "manual" button on mine. I feel Cheated.

EJ20 in my 90 legacy wagon
I just found an EJ20 turbo on ebay for $800.00 and I was wondering how hard it would be to do the swap? Engine, harness and ECU? Anybody ever done this or the WRX swap? Let me know, I am very interested.

Anybody ever gut their Legacy cat? (off-road only)
I went to Rallitek.com and let me tell you, the price for a cat delet is $229.00 and $15.00 to ship. For that price I could just get another cat. Looks like she is getting the prybar treatment. I'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully the nuts and bolts do not give me any trouble. she isn't rusted so I hope it goes smooth.

Anybody ever gut their Legacy cat? (off-road only)
If that goes well maybe I will do it to my DD seeing as how I live in a non-emissions testing state. The 90 could use some colon cleansing.....LOL

Anybody ever gut their Legacy cat? (off-road only)
I just purchased a 91 legacy sedan AWD that I was thinking about off-roading but the cat is clogged and practialy glows red when running for any length of time and throws up the CE light for the o2 sensor. I was wondering if anyone has ever gutted the cat and had a problem with the car not running properly. Please note: If I gut the cat the car will only be used for off-road driving. (For all you DOT and EPA types)

90 Legacy cooling problem...
Sounds like your radiator does have a leak so just replace it. Might as well do both hoses and stat while you are at it. Subarus are not nice when they get air in the cooling system, that might be why you hear the bubbling...air pocket. Check the board to see how to propery "burp" the system after the install of new parts. Good luck. I used a Handi-vac to burp my 90 legacy

And there went another FI!
I only have one left and I get the feeling I might be needing it soon. My check engine light is on but I am just too lazy to check it. We just got out power back today. Stupid Hurricane!! Hope all is well with everyone. Say a prayer for those in the way of the Hurricane that is out there now. They are going to need it.

where to get? EJ22 intake adaptor (to attach an cust. intake)
You puled this off without getting the Check Engine light. Nice! I keep hearing horor stories of people doing this mod with no luck. Hope it works well for you.
