Nice brat man. Where at in Michigan are you going?
-
If I bought it it'd prolly just be used for a buggy or something. I just thought it was pretty sweet and that was a killer price. Idk if there was a brat or not, ill have to look around for it. If I find it ill post a link. Might be putting new exhaust on the car soon. Made a bet with my old man and I won...of course :-p any ideas for a good muffler? Im looking for something with a nice tone and a generally small design. I'm thinking a thrush welded, they are fairly cheap, nicely toned, small design. I know a few people running this muffler and they all love them.

That BLOWS! I think that just crushed me dreams a little :-p I never did any real research on the engine to know any of that. I just seen an add for it and it was real cheap. Should just buy it anyways, could be a killer engine transplant in my s10 :-p

Ill have to tear it apart this weekend and check it out. Thanks for the help

I had the timing reset and the belt tension checked a few weeks ago which did help some. the only code that reads is the EGR which Ive been told should have little effect. Plugs are brand new and gapped correctly as well as the cap and rotor. New Wix air filter as well. The fuel filter is supposed to be a year or so old according to some receipts that came with the car when i bought it. I have yet to check the regulator. If fuel runs out of the regulator while the vacuum line off, would that mean the regulator is bad? I've never really messed with regulators much. It doesn't have any issues starting, only getting up to speed after about 45ish. Thanks man. Hope you have a bit better platform to work with than i do :-p I hope it does, I'm going to pick up some steel in the morning to get to work on it. That wedge would be an interesting addition, i wonder if anyone has tried that. Id even think about making one if i didn't have an obsession with taking this beast offroad Does anyone know if there has been a ej20tt swap in an ea82? i found a good deal on a low mileage engine with the computer. My buddy wants my engine for his buggy so that'd be a perfect excuse for an engine swap

That's kind of what i thought, but as you pointed out these engines wear extremely well. I still need to figure something out though. Does the idea Ive got in my head sound like it'd work? My old man used to drive a big rig and all of his trucks had a similar setup on the back of the truck to push the air over the trailer. He said it made a difference. I think I'm going to make a rough layout and test it at a couple of different angles and heights to see what works best. I only live about a mile from a freeway entrance so i can jump on there to get some more results. Hopefully this isn't going to be a complete waste of time.

It stumps me too. I'm thinking thethats 230,000 hard miles are starting to take effect. My tires measure about 25.5. I ran them without the rack and there was a substantial difference. Idk how your rack is mounted but I mounted mine on top of the factory rack and the top stands about 8-10 inches above the roof. I'm thinking it could be allowing too much air underneath the rack and messing with the aerodynamics. Ill admit I know little about this kind of stuff but with the amount of difference there is from running the rack and not, I think I might be onto something. The idea I have in my head is to make a plate mounted to the rack that's angled equivalent to the windshield, sits only a few millimeters about the roof and meets with the top of the front bar of the rack. That way it'll redirect the air over the rack instead of under and into it. That's the idea anyways.

I've been thinking about doing a little modification to my roof rack. it seems to be too much of a wind break and its driving me insane. I cant even hop on the freeway without holding it to the wood in 4th gear to do 65. I'm really thinking of doing something like this guy here

I'm always telling people this thing is a racecar, just not for the street :-p

Got in a little mud the other day. blew tire off the bead :/

I was beyond mad about it. This truck is my baby. I cant stand people that dont have any respect like that. Thanks man. Ive slowly been doing some interior work, ill get some pics of that.

Gave the s10 a good wash the other night and noticed that someone had keyed the living hell out of it. Really bad on the passenger side box. I tried wet sanding it out with no luck whatsoever. So looks like I'm doing another paint job. I'm keeping the black but the orange is going to be no more. I'm thinking either white or yellow. Any ideas or thoughts? I'm open for anything.

The last carbed vehicle i owned was my d50. All sorts of issues. Still loved every bit of it though. Thats the only vehicle I've owned thats slower than my subie
-
I never knew any of that. i guess we learn something new everyday Id love to get my hands on an imported one from your area though. I really like how they look. Ive always been into foreign trucks for some reason. We don't have 4 door rangers like that up here either. it looks pretty neat. A majority of the 2.2's came with the 5 speed but there were still some automatics. Most are newer than mine though that i can find. The Sport Trac is more compared to Ford Explorer up here. I wish the U.S. Gov would allow diesel production for mini trucks. Id buy one in a heartbeat.

Yes it is a code 34. I got to reading a bit more in my manual and it showed me how to clear the computer so i did and it took away prolly 90% of the chugging. My engine light is on ALL the time now which it wasn't before but whatever i guess, its running better. I did the ole black tape trick with my old cherokee and i too loved it I'm thinking its going to be a new edition to the Subie.

Your code list says it's the EGR solenoid/circuit which is the same as what I found on the internet.
-
Ill go back and check the light and book again to make sure. No I havnt cleaned it yet. I checked it out and it was actually pretty clean. I looked the code up online and it was different than my book. I think the website told me it was the EGR. but I'll check again to be sure.

Finally went out and got myself a Hynes manual. according to the manual I've got myself a bad air temp sensor. Would that cause chugging while the engines still cold?
-
I've read the same about the heads. I'll be sure to check next time its apart. I planned on having it cleaned and decked so if I don't see it I'm sure they will. This is my 3rd s10 and I love them. By far the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. Its my only 2.2 I've had though. Only 120xxx on it too! Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks a lot. I've got alot of money, blood, sweat, and tears into this thing with lots more to come. To be honest that brownish color is actually firemist metallic orange. When we painted it we did it over the black with only a few light coats which gave it a much darker color but shines bright in the sunlight. I painted my old Jeep Cherokee the same color. Ill post a pic of that to show what it was supposed to look like. Do they have S10's over where you are? or are they the Isuzu version? The Orange the s10 is supposed to be like. I do really like the brownish look though.

Just found the pics of my paint build. Most of the people in the pics are my parents and my girlfriend lol. They helped a lot with this. This was kind of a family build. Be prepared....LOTS OF PICTURES!!

I bought this truck a little over a year ago with NO intentions on keeping it. I soon fell in love with the little beater and slowly began to fix her up. its a 2wd 2.2l automatic. Not exactly the best combination but it works. In the short time I've had it Ive put a new rear end under it, all new brakes, paint, LOTS of half-a$$ body work, stereo system, head gasket(soon to need another), rims, dual exhaust from an 80s trans am, camo carpet, k&n filter, tailgate net, roll in bed-liner, and to come...axle seals, pinion seal, clutch fan delete, new rear tires(295/50r15:) ), clean up the engine bay, new headliner and LOTS more. The Day i brought it home Not bad for a stock 4cyl auto The last of its days offroad. New wheels...JUNK, will never buy another set of Keystones. After the 3rd time of losing a tire down the road, i scrapped them. New rims and paint. Also a 3inch rear shackle lift for the hot rod look I have a bunch of pics somewhere around here of the paint process. will post them as soon as i can find them

Ooohhhhh, gotcha I just had to be sure before i really start the build and screw it up

So if im looking to do a 4 inch i drop the struts 2 and the mounts/crossmembers 2? Just trying to make sure ive got the idea right. Id rather make it all then spend the money.
