  1. sorry to stray off topic there..... So yes the top mount turns into a heat sink until you get a scoop. I'm running mine with no scoop and It definately runs stronger when I have not been running it hard (no heat soak) I will let you all know the difference when I get scooped. Subarutex can probably tell you now though. Josh
  2. I would love to take som pic's but I don't have a digi cam. Anyone close by wanna come snap some? Josh
  3. Could you run lost of boost.... shure start out by lowering the compression by installing some custom built forged pictons ( I prefer CP) cromo hand filed rings, then build / buy some real rods. The crank will more than likely be the weak link but you might get away with it. O ring the head and deck. All ARP fasteners. External Oil cooler, Bigger injectors, Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and and AN 8 feed line from pump, Fuel pump upgrade wire set up, Gaudges to support it all. I.E. egt boost, oil press, temp, coolant temp. And to tune, a wide band o2. To make this kind of reliable you need a stand alone. As well as a couple hours and someone who is knowledgable on a dyno/your stand alone. Of course I would want to KNOW the heads were good and pressure tested to support 20+lbs. Anybody can run lots of boost with retarded timing, but hang on to your hat with a mapped table to 25psi. Oh yeah you probably want to run water injection a bigger more efficent turbo and a front mount or water to air. But for my money 11psi and less than $50 bux sounds pretty good. Josh My Gvr4 on the other hand thats a different story.
  4. I have an allen wrench that the end is ground pretty short on. works great with a pair of vise grips and a hammer (pry). A slide hammer makes it simple.
  5. detatch the air meter from the air box and trace around the meter. Then take your drawing to home depot and look for gutter / plumbing parts. I used a gutter end and a dremmel. I had to space the tube end for the airfilter with a pipe coupler. Josh mine cost $4.99 and 15 min.
  6. http://www.spoilers.com/accessories.htm Thanks Josh
  7. yeah I uh want to know what scoop is on subarutex's car. Thanks Josh
  8. Subarutex what hood scoop is on your car? Wrx? what year? Did you have to shave some off? It seems like the 02 03 wrx scoop is too wide to fit on the raised section of the hood. Yours looks to fit quite well. thanks Josh
  9. I did this set up on a buddies rally car. we ran the water thru the ac condensor with a boat bilge pump. Worked great!
  10. I weeded out about half the vacume lines today and capped the one I missed on the install. Up next is a catch can and no more burning oil. I am woking on getting a scoop. and I still need to beat up my cats . I was thinking about the power supply to the fuel pump. Any thoughts. Anybody in washington have any lines on injector cleaning? Josh who would have thought 10 psi felt so good.
  11. Unfortunately I have to work from 1 to 9 pm tomorrow. Maybe next time. Josh
  12. how late you guys gonna be there? I would be cool to actually put a face with all the names. Josh
  13. I have a 88 turbo wagon. I decided to put a cone filter on it today. As I started taking it apart I noticed it had a different air meter than the 88 RX I had. So after adding the filter, I pulled off the bottom 2 hoses from the wastegate and put on manual boost controller. First pull was 11psi !!!! I was stoked so I grabbed an old intercooler I had from a GVR4 and stuck that on too. Summary: It sounds good, 10psi is better than 7.5 and I now need a hood scoop. The best part is it cost me less than $50 bux. Josh The build date on my car was 06/88
  14. the legacy turbo / wrx turbo will not work with out a new up pipe or changeing the stock flange. I know I tried. The stocker pushes enough air anyhow. I just wanted it for the slower shaft speed = cooler intake air. Josh
  15. what is your base fuel pressure (at idle) My bet is your MSD pump is overrunning the stock FPR. The FPR works on vacume pressure so the more throttle you give it the more gas you get. Josh
  16. I had a 97 legacy GT it threw a rod bearing at around 75,000 mi. If you look at impreza.net and do a search and you will see this was a problem on a # of the 2.5l engines. If this is your problem find a used block I got one for $300 2 or 3 years ago.
