I was thinking of putting some fuel system cleaner through my RX because it has been sitting and I think a cleaning would probably make it run a lot better. I did hear, though, that sometimes it can make you fuel injectors crack. As I definately wouldn't want that to happen, What do you guys think? I have used it in the passt without any probalems, but that probably doesn't mean it couldn't happen. BTW, the brand that I have used and probably would use again is Gumout.

I just thought of something earlier and was curious as to its viability. Would it be possible to put a WRX or even an sti engine in an RX? What would this involve? WOuld you need to swap out the entire drivetrain? Just thought that it might be cool, it would make quite a nice sleeper, too.

I was wondering how you had a black one. All of the other ones I've seen are all white (including mine). Did they ever make any other colors?

87 RX: Tuning Time... AWD or 2wd dyno?
AEIOU replied to Subarutex's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wouldn't the 2wd read higher because of less driveline loss? -
This reminds me of the rarity of this car. The guy I bought my RX from didn't even know what he had, aside from being the sporty model in the subaru line of the time, he didn't know anthing about the car. Didn't know what a turbo did, aside from making it faster, didn't know it had an LSD (or what one was), or that it was even a farily rare car. Guess I can't complain, though, I got it for $675!

how would this work: http://www.car-sound.com/universal/530.htm ?
-
so could I just get the cat (be it hight flow or oem) and have it fit btwn the current downpipe and the rest?
-
I just looked under my RX today and discovered why the engine sounds so loud (Nice, however). The link between the turbo manifold tube and the catalitic convertor is completely off. The rest of the exaghst looks ok, so I'm wondering if I could just replace the cat. If so, what would be a good cat to use? It doesn't necisarily have to be high performance (that will come later), but if it isn't too much more I'll consider it now. If I do need to replace it all, what would be good components to use?

I wouldn't mind the service manual either, though.

I think I saw that wrx scoop hood for the RX a while ago, but can't find it now. Any other sugestions/links?

the owner's manual, I'm sorry
-
ha ha. I guess I'll PM you

Yup, definately have to get the engine running better first. Doesn't idle too well, dies. Will probably need at least a tune up, altough I'm wondering if fuel system cleaner would help, because I guess it was sitting for a while, so it may just need to be cleaned out a bit. I definately like the sound of it though . Very Mean and agresive, although that might be because of a bad exaughst. I'm not sure. Its definately a car to work on.
-
awesome, How do I get it?
-
Does anyone have a spair manual for an 87 RX? Mine didn't have it with the car and I was hoping I could find one here.
-
Awesome. I just got one yesterday, too. Yours probably runs a lot better than mine right now, needs clutch and some other minor stuff.
-
actually, I found it in a local newspaper.
-
not yet, workin on it

Just Bought My 87 RX today. Looks quite nice. It isn't drivable currently because it needs a clutch and a tune up will be needed, but with just 67000 miles and a low price, I think it will be great with a little work. There are some electrical issues, too, but I'm sure we'll resolve those.
-
the WRX one was ~ $20, saw others a bout for that too, about that price range would be nice.
-
would it be better to go with a WRX intercooler or some other? I saw tons of variety on ebay.
-
How a about that mnual boost control? what is it like? How do you install it? is it engine/turbo specific? Is it better to get that or an intercooler 1st?
-
ea82t owners - post your mileage
