MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I could use some better front struts. Mine are rusted out real bad. Would like teh whole assembly (spring, seats, cartraige, etc) A set of desent 30X10 or smaller tires. Another 15" steel pug so i can have a full size spare. There is a lot of EJ22 stuff wasting space in my garage. EJ22 Turbo parts Intake Manifold Left Fuel Rail Right Fuel Rail (with regulator) Throttle Body Mass Airflow Sensor Power Steering Pump EJ22 NA parts Fuel Injector (Brand new OEM part) Left Fuel Rail (with injectors) Right Fuel Rail (with injectors and regulator) Air Condition Pump (KIWI) Throttle Position Sensor Crank Position Sensor Idle Air Control Valve Coolant Temp. Sensors Left and Right Cylinder Heads -

Need some help on a tranny swap
MorganM replied to calebz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just pulled a 2WD 5speed the other day. Found it rather easy getting it READY to pull but actually getting it out, like you said, was rocky at best. What I ended up doing was having my friend push on the motor from the front, thus releasing a lot of tension on those lower bellhousing studs, and me pulling from the rear. I wraped my pull strap around the back of the trans and pulled fromt he rear of the vehicle so I was yanking straight and not to one side. She pretty much flopped on the floor when he pushed and I pulled If you are by yourself put a jack upto your oil pan and jack the engine up so it tilts crank pully up / flywheel down. Wrap a strap or chain around the trans. Run the strap out the back and pull from there. As noted above have something padded for it to fall on Wood, blanket, pallet, whatever. I use thick old movers blankets. Good luck! -
If you are going solid axle who cares what family you are in Wonder how well an old Toyota 4WD wagon's rear end would swap in? It's solid axle with leaf springs in the back. Looked like it had lots of travel too.

Glad to see more international people 2" lift? Thats awsome! Do it yourself or is this a Scorpion or BYB lift? Time for some bigger tires

So uh... does anyone wanna swap some parts while we are down there? I'f so I'll take an inventory of the MN Chop Shop and see what I got to trade/sell/giveaway!

Tried calling the number you sent. Keep getting a Jahova's Whitness church? Called the POC on the voice mail from the church. They don't know any Joe I'll just reply back to your email with my work #. I should be in the office till 7:00 PM Thx -
I'm just finishing up my 2WD 5speed to 4WD DR 5speed conversion so I happen to have a 2WD 5speed laying around. If you want to pay shipping I can certainly send you my 2WD 5speed. It's in great shape. I never had any problems shifting into gears (the synchros feel fine) The shifter is precise and not sloppy at all. I paied $75 after taxes and EPA fees for my dual range from a local U Pull yard. The install is pretty much plug and pray i mean play Some things that are not plug and play is the rear diff hanger. THere are not holes in your 2WD body for the bolts on the outside of the hanger that hold it to the body. You can easily tell where they go however (it is beveld in where you nee to drill) There are also no holes for the center carier bearing bracket on the 4WD driveshaft. I have not crossed that bridge yet; putting in the tranny this SAT and then I'll do the drive shaft. So far the plan is to bolt on the dirveshaft, have someone hold it up while someone else drills holes through the unibody and we hang it with fat washers, bolts and nuts. Shoot me an email if you are interested in that 2WD tranny. morganm @ mnchopshop . org Thx!

Balancing Subaru and life... (SHE SAID YES!!)
MorganM replied to s'ko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's simple math really. Subaru > Life Can't argue with math Seriously tho; I have a wife, son, career, and countless hobbies. Hard to find time for the Subaru. It sits for months on end. To me its just another hobby. I get to it when I have time, I have fun working on it and driving it when I can, and I put it away when I dont have time for it. What really helped was when I got another car. So now my wife has her daily driver, I have a reliable daily driver, and my Subaru is a toy. This makes it easier to 'put it on the shelf' when I simply do not have time for it. My wife laughs tho because the Subaru gets my stall in the garage while my brand new car sits outside... can you tell which car I like more? -

Welp I picked up a gallon of Valvoline SAE 80W90 on my lunch break Thx for the replies guys. -
I used one briefly. It was just a cheapy air nozel with a tube you stick in the sand. Pretty easy; point and shoot. Worked well at blasting off rust from one of my wheels. If you dont mind making a mess and not recycleling the sand no booth is needed. Prolly want a nice mask if you dont have a booth so you arent huffing sand
