  1. Hey Ken, thanks for the quick response. Ed told me about that guy down on 4th Ave S when I ran into him at the PAP a couple of weeks ago. I kinda plan on going down there with some vacuum line and some spare sizes of idle and main jets that I have and keep my fingers crossed. I chucked my old Hitachi crap after I got through emmissions 2 yrs ago, with some tweaking I should be fine--Brian
  2. I need to pass emissions soon with my '84 BRAT with the Weber. Should I worry about not having the EGR hooked up? I have been running it with the valve plugged with a vacuum cap. Thanks, Brian.
  3. I'll take a look at the bushings I guess--Thanks guys
  4. On my '84 BRAT the fuel pump has started to sound like a helicopter thump thumping behind me. You can only hear it when you are stopped at a traffic light or something, but it's getting on my nerves. Is it a sign that it's on its way out or do they all sound like that after a while? Thanks, Brian.
  5. Found the web page, http://www.gordon-glasgow.org/lsdtech.html
  6. On how to test your LSD, go to Google and type in Datsun 510 Subaru LSD, I remember seeing a page on how to test the clutch breakaway point(i.e. the factory setting around 45lb/ft??) How I tested mine? In the snow rev to 3 grand and drop the clutch and see how it hooks up. I used Kendall brand for LSDs, seems to be an affordable choice here.(Versus the Redline stuff)--Brian
  7. Hi Ed, yes I fixed the Brat before X-mas with Austin having the steering knuckle I needed. Now that the holidays are over I have more time to allocate to my baby. I have a vibration/noise at certain speeds like the wheel wobbles badly. I've tried separately swapping out the wheel, brake rotor, and axle in case one was bent. I'll get an alignment next maybe it's as simple as that. The control arm and strut assbly look straight to my eye. I also went out to the PAPs last week to look for a fender and door, but passed on what was there. According to the parts manual I need a '83-up coupe or hatchback door and a '83-up any model fender. BTW your PM box is full.--Brian
  8. This might be a stupid question but, what does a adjustable shock do for you? In this case the REBOUND is adjusted on the rear shock. Thanks, Brian.
  9. Hey Guys, according to the Oregon Rally Group's discussion board, at last nights meeting, "Mr. Black Durango" Scott is the new rally-x manager. How much do you want to bet no more Soobies at all in the Truck/Suv class. The post said that the new rules would be posted soon.---Brian
  10. I run the Kendall limited slip gear oil, it's cheaper than the Redline line stuff. But I do run the Redline MT90 in the tranny it's something like $12 qt. smoothed out the syncros nice.--Brian
  11. My Brat does the same thing when it's raining and I come to a stop at a light. I chalk it up to cold rain on the hot radiator since I never use any coolant and I replaced my radiator about 2 yrs ago.--Brian
  12. I got my set from Les Schwab, don't remember the price though, I want to say around $60 per.--Brian
  13. Hey Donny, I know how that goes, a couple of years ago I sold my Mustang that I had since I was 16, at the time I was 29 and had one too many cars. The last thing I told the 17 yr old kid that bought it that it was my baby and please don't wreck it. It was hard to see it go.---Brian
  14. I picked up a steering hub/knuckle from Austin tonight, he has more Soobie parts in his garage than most ordinary Subaru fanatics, he saved me a trip to the Pull-a-Part. Thank you, thank you Austin. I hope to have the Brat driveable by Fri. if it goes well. Hey General Disorder, I'm glad you could use the clutch, it was only 2 yrs old and maybe 15K miles on it when I switched over to the 5-sp. it should last you a while. I'll try to get some digi. pics tomorrow and post them of the damage.--Brian
  15. The Expedition sheared the knuckle right below where the strut bolts in, the tire hold air and the strut looks straight, I can't tell if anything else is bent underneath. At some point I'll need a fender and maybe a door. There was a Bothell officer there in minutes after it happened, neither me or the Expedition driver saw his accident report though. I don't know how hard it will be to prove he jumped the gun getting into the right turn lane he was already beside me when I moved over. He was moving pretty good to biff my wheel/fender like that though. The tow truck guy was very cool, he has a lifted '84 turbo wagon he wants too wheel, the mudders he has on stick 4" past the fenders. Has a blown headgasket or cracked head though, is new to Soobs was a Chevy guy. He didn't know about the board and was tickled that other people thought that Soobies were unique just like he did. Thanks Ed for donating your Sun evening to getting the Brat home, you are just like my Dad, patient and understanding.--Brian
  16. Ed turned me onto The Clutch Place, I got a Sachs (European OEM clutch manufacturer) set for around $140, high quality, less pedal effort. Talk to Karleen 708-755-3278, or theclutchplace@aol.com--Good Luck, Brian.
  17. I have a GemTop canopy on my BRAT, company HQ located in Portland and they sell parts for them. There are a couple of other companies that made toppers, don't remember them off the top of my head though.--Brian
  18. Well Jerry, I'm glad you found a good home for it. Having to part it out would have been too painful.---Brian
  19. Welcome to the board, off the top of my head I don't remember any members being Scots, but often it's hard to tell where people are from with using nicknames and not filling out their profiles. Enjoy this community, alot of good, helpful, and knowledgable friends.--Brian
  20. Cool Jason, I didn't think they were giving them out way down to 6th. Woo Hoo-- Brian.
  21. Nevermind the request, I got ahold of Ken and we're meeting at N'gate then going to your house. Thanks, Brian.
  22. Hey Eric, I'm supposed to meet Ken at your house Sat morning to get him some Pug rims. But I need your address, PM or email me, 1bdose@comcast.net Thanks, Brian.
  23. The electric choke has a plastic cap and a small blade terminal just like the hitachi does, I just used the same wire it couldn't be any easier. You may have to adjust the choke afterwards a little like I had to once the weather got cold. Hope this helped, Brian.
  24. Hey Guys the Rally-X results are posted for the 10/12 and season.(http://www.oregonrally.com/?page=results) 7th place on Sun and 6th overall for my rookie season, I'm pretty happy. Congratulations to Eric for winning Truck and to Mark for 4th in PGT in the season totals. Unfortunately the black Durango just pipped Luke for 2nd in Truck. Can't wait till next spring now.--Brian
