  1. Thanks for nothing. Anyone else? I just want to know what the stuff on the bracket is for.
  2. mounted on the passenger side strut tower on a 82 GL. There is one bracket which hold 3 cube shaped things and one round thing, right next to the washer fluid tank. I am guessing they are for AC?
  3. I need to see where the harness is mounted on the drivers side of the engine bay, from where it passes through the firewall to where it goes under the radiator. Pics or a diagram would be helpful! thanks.
  4. That's pure crap. I have run very clean, never failing emissions with 2 different webers on 3 different Subaru cars, for the last 7 or so years. Webers are very tunable. OPs in New Mexico at 6000 feet, I am in Colorado at 5500 feet. Don't know the rules in NM, but they are probably similar numbers-wise to here. The OP had the right idea with trying to make the weber pass before running it through with a stock set-up. How did it go? I assume it has passed by now, and please share what you did-
  5. It will never run again, you should sell it to me for $50. Seriously tons of people here would love to get their hands on your car. Don't know the value. they are super rare. Post a picture please!
  6. Beautiful! Where is Brownsville, those pics look like high desert.
  7. Hi Poop, I have a chitload of gen one parts, mostly mechanical but some interior and body. Drop me a line if you need anything, I would love to help and I am in full on get rid of stuff mode.
  8. Hey there, i like what you are doing with this car. I have two gen 1 wagons myself, one I drive every day. I really love these cars and you will too, I can see that.
  9. Disty cap and where the cylinders are (meaning #1 right front, etc).
  10. Thanks I think Turbone has me covered.
  11. I want the fold out electrical diagram for a 1982 GL Sedan. Thanks.
  12. Is there any rubber or plastic trim that goes on the cowling (by cowling I mean the piece of the body between the hood and the windshield). I now there are little plastic things that cover the parts of the cowling That slide into the slots in the firewall, and the plastic grates beneath, but I have found three rubber strips that would fit on the windshield side edge of the cowling. If they don't go there, I don't know what they are.
  13. It sounds like a good car, but you didn't mention the body condition. Bad paint can be fixed. Rust not so much. a 100% rust free car like you described, I would pay 2k for, but understand that that is top dollar. If rust free, I would offer $1200 and go from there. You've got to be willing to say "Dude.....it's a 27 year old subaru!"
  14. Is it easier to install the ducts to the sides in the dash before installing the dash, or do they get in the way. It looks like if you put them in first, the side defrost vents will be tough to hook up, plus it just might make the dash tough to get in place. Who's done it, and what did you do?
  15. Right but what I don'y get is why this resister is mounted on near the bottom of the vent box inside the box itself.
  16. got these ordered from a dealership today. It seems like whenever you get parts for a 30 year old subaru you get the "two units left in the whole country" line. So can anyone explane how that resistor works? I don't get it.
  17. try this guy: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=123340 Although I never bought an axel from them, Napa and car qwest tend to sell good parts.
  18. like the title says. i can't find on ebay or from subaru. Anyone have part numbers? the resistor I am refering to is the little plug in on the bottom of the heater (vent) box. By the way how does the resistor work?
  19. i want to put good sound in my hatchback. front and back. I have seen ea81 front speakers mounted in three places: 1. a single 6" long oval speaker mounted on the face of the dash above the glovebox 2. a single 4" long oval speaker mounted on the face of the dash next to the driver side door 3. a pair of 6" round speakers mounted low in the doors (would require cutting my doors) The only place I have seen rear speakers mounted is above the rear wheel wells. To mount 6 inch speakers here would require removing the evaporation tank thing on the passenger side rear wheel well. I would like to see where you guys have mounted speakers in an ea81 era hatch or other vehicle. I am thinking of using the two behind the dash locations in the front, probably 4" speakers and the wheel wells in the back with 6" speakers. What say you?
  20. Are all gen 1 windshields the same? Specifically can I take a 78 brat windshield and put it in my 77 stage 2 wagon.
  21. $850 sounds like a lot around here if it may need an engine. I think it comes down to how bad you want it. With patience and time you can find a clean hatch body for next to nothing. I got a clean bodied hatch out of a gulch off route 36 north of Left Hand for free, I took parts and scrapped the rest. Wish i didn't but my point is they are still around here if you keep your eyes open. just sayin... by the way lyons, why is your name lyons? I live in Lyons.
  22. the plan is this- put together my ultimate car. I drove this as a daily driver for a while and grew to love it. Over the years I've collected everything I came acrossed that would make this sweet- I've got a perfect interior, xt 6 seats, lsd, louvers, roof rack, every piece of trim they ever threw on these cars. I just figure if I'm going to drive around in a 30 year old car, it should be a really cool one. It will be a two seater with a boot behind the seats for my dog to ride in comfort. I wouldn't really call it a restore. Give me the winter and I'll show you guys something real nice.
