  1. I also have a 95 legacy put 98 struts on the front and back. The front struts side by side you could see a were longer by an about an inch and a half. The back however looked like I was hauling a ton of crap in my trunk after I put them on.Have a forester I may take the struts off of and see if I can tell any change other than that any one have any ideas what to try next.
  2. Wasnt getting anything at all replaced the solenoid plug had a ton of junk in it. Did get some clicking today from the starter but didnt last very long. Next go round going to add a couple ground wires to the car and see if that helps. Pretty sure the main engine connectors are good had the motor running before i placed the exhaust Radiator belts and timing belt covers back on. Have also double and triple checked everything being connected but will be sure to check again. Can turn the motor via ratchet no problems. Motor does not crank but can hear starter bendex extend.
  3. Did a motor swap in my 1995 Legacy everything was goin great until it wouldnt start after everything was back in place. Had trouble with the grounds so i used a set of jumper cables to ground the motor and actually got farther along that way. Once i cleaned up the grounds and reconnected everything i didnt need to use the jumper cables but still would not start. Could hear a faint clicking thought it was the starter. Pulled the starter and took it in and had it tested and was good to my surprise. Reinstalled and still same as before but had someone else try to start the car and found the clicking was not the starter was actually able to hear it and felt it clicking. Using the diagram on the hood it was called the Pressure Sources Switching Solenoid Value 14774aa500 is the part number and found it from Subaru no where else except a few places on ebay before I spend another 100 bucks on this car for something im not sure is bad just asking if any one else has ever had this trouble with this part or any other ideas on things to check. All connections are tight and the battery when used was charged and good to go, everything was replaced in the fuse box. Here is a link to the part on ebay if this helps any http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-OEM-96-99-Legacy-Egr-System-Solenoid-Valve-14774AA500-/360960242590?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item540ae8339e&vxp=mtr Thanks for any info
  4. Yea i made sure everything was tight. Its a ground issue. The starter might be done to not sure yet but used my jumper cables to make solid ground from the battery and got a few more lights on the dash and can actually hear a faint click when turning over. Which could be bc my battery is dieing or the starter but gonna be cleaning up some grounds and prob installing a few more and maybe a starter change.. Thanks for the help...
  5. Hooked up the battery to jumper cables cleaned my terminals checked that they were also tight checked fuses pulled each one the sbfs too all looked good had spares and swapped the sbfs out. Double checked timing just to be sure. Is the main Fuse located somewhere other than the two fuse boxes in the car.one under hood other drivers side floor board.
  6. Did an engine swap in my 95 legacy. Did my timing and water pump before install used my intake wiring harness etc replacing gaskets on the intake and had to buy a few hoses that were a lil worn and broke during install. I started the car once installed before i hooked everything else up radiator alternator exhaust just to hear it run for a brief second. Engine fired up so i shut it off and went ahead an installed the rest but once i was going to start filling the radiator and bleed it. I turn the key and get noting as if the battery is disconnected. Any one have any ideas. only lights i have on the dash are that a door is open bc i didnt close my driver door when turning the key and the air bag light comes on too but nothing else no engaging of the starter like the car is dead.
  7. Im doing this well already have except i went the opposite way i used the outback struts form a 98 on a 95 legacy anything i should watch for or also change. Other than the alignment once im done.
  8. So got the motor tore down in the 2000 pistons were cracked.and timing belt was a mess getting off. If it had been the guy i got this from he should of went back to the shop that did the work on the car but thats besides the point. I came across another motor that is a lil bit cheaper and also alot less miles than what i have seen its a JDM EJ20 SOHC it is EGR valve type or non EGR type which is what i would need. .
  9. I know I'm new to working on Subaru's but always been a quick learner and not afraid of asking questions if im unsure. Thanks for the advice and also the Welcome Gary.
  10. I have a ej22 with egr from a 95 legacy AT. Will I be able to use in a 2000 legacy MT. Not worried about check engine lights. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row bc if it will work i want to put it in this car but if doesn't i maybe putting it in a 98 legacy that I also have.
  11. I have three Subaru's a 95 Legacy 2.2 AT which runs like a tank but the body is a lil rough.A 98 Subaru Outback with the 2.5 also AT motor is pretty well shot they broke the bolt off trying to get it to turn over, body is in excellent condition bought as a parts car(but body is in such good shape hate to tear into it for parts then started reading about motor swaps and got to thinking about doing a swap. Well then i ran across a 2000 Legacy Gt 2.5 MT Timing chain broke and the guy started tearing the motor down so not sure what all I have or dont have at this point. But would say its to new for the old motor and not sure what to do track down a 2.2 or a 2.5. Was thinking maybe combine the 95 and 98 and then sell to help pay for whats needed for the 2000 model or rebuild the 98 and 2000 model doing the 2000 model first and then the 98 model and prob sell the 98 eventually and just use the 95 as a work car until it decides to fold up. Any and all opinions pointers are greatly appreciated Thanks ahead of time. Not in a super big hurry to fix so time is not an issue.
  12. Thanks figured it would be a long shot. I will stick with the orginal swap i was going to do and put it into a 98 that I have and Break down and buy one for the 2000 model.
  13. Gonna back pack off this post I have a 95 legacy 2.2 motor AT will this work in a 2000 legacy standard that used the 2.5 before the swap. I see where this would work for the above 97 but was wondering before i pulled the 2.2 if it would work in the 2000 model. Thanks for any help that can be given.
