  1. So even for free it's not worth it? Would I be better off wrangling in an aftermarket deck? Right now I've got the factory AM/FM radio and it doesn't even light up at night. I'm hoping for a relatively simple and cheap transition to quality sound.
  2. Someone in my area has a free factory deck from a 98 Outback. As far as size and wiring harness, is it a plug-in match to my 92 Loyale?
  3. Thanks all. I got into it to make the adjustments and found that the front window-holder bracket was broken :/ Hence it's coming off-track. I found and '89 GL donor at the local scrapyard and got the driver's window, now I need to take mine apart to make the switch. The motor and guides all seem to work well enough, so I will update when the job is finished.
  4. @skishop69, the window moves back and forth when it goes up and down, so it doesn't sit square and doesn't close snugly. It actually bows out some from the vehicle. This leads to a problematic level of noise at highway speed, possibly a higher risk of vandalism or theft, and likelihood of rain damage. Plus, it looks bad and it's bothering me. The motor and tracks work fine, but the glass isn't staying secure in the clips. Can I get more of that sticky black goop that they used to secure it in the first place?
  5. Driver's side power window glass is loose. The panel comes off easily enough, and I can access the track but I can't get the glass to line back up for a snug fit and stay there. Any ideas are appreciated.
  6. I think I'm going to look for an older receiver. I've also got a vintage Blaupunkt BPA 260 amp and an Alpine CD changer. Hopefully I can get them to all play together.
  7. Thanks guys. I did find some info here about the common ground issue, but I didn't know about the rear door speakers. I was thinking about mounting a pair of 6x9s in the rear hatch. I wonder...
  8. High on the short list of things my '92 Loyale wagon needs is a proper sound system. Some kind soul installed a nice pair of Pioneer coaxials in the front doors, but the factory AM/FM unit has to go. Do I need to watch out for specific fitment issues on radios, are there any electrical/wiring concerns (I am a recovering Volvo owner), can I mount speakers in the rear hatch panel, etc. TIA.
  9. Thanks! I'll be flinging and flogging in no time.
  10. So I just bought a '92 Loyale wagon and I realized I don't know something rather pertinent: is this car front-wheel driven or rear-wheel driven when the 4WD is disengaged? I haven't had much of a chance to test it out, and I don't have a lift to put it up and check (I know, major oversight on my part) so please forgive the noob-level ignorance. Thanks!
  11. Hi all, My name's Peter. I'm a veteran DIY car guy but this is my first Subie: A '92 Loyale wagon, 5-speed, 233k miles, just paid $1100. I'm getting new tires on right now, I know I'm going to need to replace at least 2 CV boots, and we'll see how it goes after that! So far, I'm thrilled to drive the little beastie. It's very...flingable. That's me on the passenger side and Boy #3 on the driver's side.
