  1. ok, thanks, I will probabaly get a 4' lift eventually, but I just wanted to know if they would fit untill that, thanks. It is a bushman brushguard, I got it brand new in the box for $25 when a relaitve of mine at kinely's Subaru found out I got a brat.
  2. I'm thinking of getting some 185/80/SR13 tires on the stock wheels and I wanted to know if anybody knows if one of these will fit under the hood of an 84 Brat GL? would I need to cut the fenders?
  3. Hello, I'm thinking about this: putting higher compression pistons into a ea82 turbo to give it better low end power and make it rely less on the turbo. it would be like a N/A vehicle with a turbokit on it, right? running like a normal engine, but with some boost to help it with high-end highway power! so, will it work or am I insane?
  4. I got one of the bulldog alarms, it's 65 - 100 bucks depending on the model. http://www.eclipsecovers.com/Alarms.html
  5. ok, I will call on him when i get the tranny. I'm not going to do the 5-lug swap? you must be thinking of someone else.
  6. Hey, phatbrat, where did you get the "genuine subaru cruise control with everything needed still in the box"? I want one because I have a problem with speeding up and slowing down on the highway.
  7. okay, so, just get everything related to the engine and transmission, right? also, who is the guy that makes a shift kit or something for the tranny swap?
  8. I would do this: air intake new exhaust (would have to make one anyway) what diameter? intercooler blow off valve turn up the boost! maybe higher comp. pistons for better low end? It would make it less reliant on the turbo Can I use the stock turbo hookup and just cut it off after the turbo ends? how does the engine fit in?
  9. ok, lets just say I went with the turbo, what would I need to pull out other than the engine and everything connected to it? the fuel pump right? what else
  10. thank you, i managed to get the dash speakers reconnected
  11. I want to use a turbo engine but my dad believes what that guy I mentioned told him. is this stuff true?
  12. Hello, my dad has offered to pay for a new engine and tranny for my 1984 Subaru Brat GL. I will be using a 5 speed dual range EA82 transmission. The first part is to decide what engine to use. I want to use a EA82 Turbo, but there are some concerns I want to iron out. my dad once got an xt from a guy who sells the older subarus, and he said to avoid turbos because they go bad and the parts are expensive for them, he actually takes out the turbo engines of the cars that he buys and replaces them with some other type! I don't think that it is all true, but still, acusations should be answered If I don't go turbo then what EA82 engine should I get? there are the carbed, spfi and mpfi right?
  13. Hello, are there only two speakers in a 84 Brat GL? only the drivers side door one works in mine. so, if there are more than just the two in the doors, they aren't working Also, what is their power? (it says "8W" but 8 watts doesn't seem right)
  14. I can go to williamsport and follow the directions from there.
  15. My 84' brat smells like old people and bacon! seriously! this is what happened, I am the third or fourth owner. the 1 or 2 owner smoked, they leaft a yellow cealing and a musty smell (not a smokey smell). it had a oil leak (really!) I bought it from an old guy, and somehow he left it smelling like old people. I put a new-car smell air freshinger in it. that all mixed together to make a bacon(I don't know how but it did) and an old people smell. I am serious, and the scary thing is I am starting to like the smell:boohoo:
  16. The only thing I have seen make a suby beyond help is rust.
