  1. We would LOVE to have some old school representation there. Sorry you won't be able to make it Mick.

  3. Sweet...I'd like to find a spot like that to play around.
  4. One of my friends got run off the road today (and the guy at fault didn't even stop) and ended up getting his Sunfire stuck in 4" of muck and water in the middle of some tall grass. We left his car, ran to the hardware store to get a tow strap, which I'd been meaning to get anyway, and headed back to hook it up. I drove my WRX down into the grass (on a rediculous slope) and hooked up the cars. I was expecting to have to fight his car out of there, but it couldn't have been easier. If it were me who had been run off the road, I would have just driven out of the median and gone off chasing the guy who did it!
  5. I'd just need to make sure it got me home. When I bought my DL I picked it up in NJ without test driving it (I lived in NY then) and then drove it to school in IA, so I guess I do naturally trust them.
  6. Thanks for the replies! I have seen a couple DL/GL wagons in CO that I'd consider, but I really don't want to go much further than that to get one because I'd like to test drive it first. I was thinking about an Outback since I'd like to have a bigger car around as well, but that's not too much of a necessity. I would, like soobmater said, be worried about body damage more on something newer, so that's always a problem. I guess I'll just have to keep all of my options open.
  7. I'm thinking about a driveway buddy for my WRX (someone left me a nice red scratch on the door so I'm sick of driving it to school) and I've been considering a Legacy Outback wagon, so who here has experience with modifying one for offroading? I've taken my WRX off the beaten path a couple times but I sure could use some extra ground clearance. I'm still open to a good DL/GL/Loyale if I can find one but that's getting pretty tough.
  8. My friend's '92 Legacy wagon towed me out of some deep snow in my Protege...while he was in the same snow.
  9. I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it out. I don't have a Subaru right now, either.
  10. I had no problem pounding out the old CV with a rubber mallet.
  11. I was about to offer you my engine but then I saw your location. Good luck with the car!
  12. Thanks for the replies. I don't really have the time or place to work on the car, so I'm putting it up for sale soon.
  13. The clutch pedal on my DL dropped to the floor never to return to the upright position the other day, so my first thought was the clutch cable. Stupidly, I bought the cable without checking the car, and it turned out that something else was the problem, although I don't know what. The cable is fine, and it's so loose that I can take it off at either end without any significant effort. For some reason, the clutch release mechanism is stuck down, as though the pedal were depressed, but the clutch is engaged. What are the possibilities here? T/O bearing? Clutch spring? Release mechanism? Is it really worth fixing on a rusty car with 173K and an oil leak, or should I just sell the car for parts? I can drive it without the clutch, but it's a little difficult.
  14. Okay, so I found one with a 5 speed, but if I did have to do a swap, what transmission would I use and how hard would it be?
  15. Every Legacy turbo (touring?) I find has an automatic tranny? Did they come with manual transmissions? How hard would a 5 speed swap be?
  16. I was looking at Legacy GT's too, but they seem to be hard to find and are usually pretty pricey. Adding forced induction is a distant dream, so I'm not too worried about that right now.
  17. Hey gang, I'm looking at getting a '96 Legacy Outback and I was wondering what some websites were where I could get an idea of what's out there for parts. Wow, that's a nasty sentence! Anyway, I'd be looking for performance suspension and brake parts first, and eventually things for more power.
  18. I should replace that little sucker. My heater doesn't have 1 or 2.
