  1. Got it. Though it would help to see a how a later wagon is done...
  2. Well, that might be the way they do it in St. Paul, but in Texas, I don't know....
  3. I'd like to lift my 1979 4WD wagon (mostly for my kids' amusement). Anyone have ideas? sources? diagrams? Thanks!
  4. ...the ticking and boxer sound is what makes a Subaru a Subaru and isn't supposed to go away. It's been affectionately been referred to as "the maternal hum of a Subaru."
  5. I've found a couple of sources that sell rolls of wood applique of different heights and lengths. J.C. Whitney is one source. On the paint job, I've gotten mixed responses from shops around my place. One guy laughed and said he doesn't do "finish" jobs, only collision work. What? Another guy offered to paint it for around $400, the next guy gave me an estimate of around $800. This is way too much money! I might end up at Earl Scheib or Maaco. Anyone here ever rent the equipment and paint your car in the garage?
  6. Here's where I'm at today, in case anyone's curious! http://hometown.aol.com/enniodiaz/index.html
  7. I've started taking my wagon apart to do body work and primer. Doing this some parts crumbled in my hands, mainly the rubber (plastic?) backing behind the front amber side lamps. Anyone have these?
  8. Are sure someone hasn't taken these vehicles out for one of those extreme makeovers? By the way, there's that '79 wagon in FL, I think still for sale.
  9. Technically, it's roadworthy until 1/2005. Thankfully, it was exempt from emissions testing since it's 25 or more years old.
  10. Spring is about 200 miles south of Dallas, 25 miles north of Houston. I'm keeping the Yugo stock, but see the funny looking and sounding muffler system my dear brother suprised me with: more yugo pictures It seems I'll have to upgrade the stereo system to be able to hear it while driving the Yugo.
  11. pictures of the wagon (pictures of the Yugo too).
  12. this thread has been hijacked. so.... who got the ski wagon?
  13. who's skisooby? who bought the Ski Team wagon on ebay?
  14. I emailed a local Subaru dealer to see if they have a set of that exterior molding/trim that surrounds the wood sticker on my 78 woody wagon. Just curious, do dealers carry any of this old stuff? what experience has anyone here had with finding NOS stuff at dealers?
  15. my 78 wagon's "chg" idiot light stays on. the alt looks new or rebuilt. any thoughts, diagnosis, hints? anyone know how long the wagon will drive on a fully charged battery if the alt is truly shot?
  16. I don't want to totally scratch the paint underneath, and avoid having to strip down to bare metal. Can I get glue and label remover at any parts store?
  17. Anyone know how to remove that wood applique from a woody wagon? I'm guessing it's the same as removing a large sticker, like a bird sticker on a Trans Am. I need to remove all the woody sticker from the 78 wagon before doing the body work.
  18. Todd, the photos you posted earlier (and above) are true to the wagon's shape. The interior needs a lot of help, but the exterior shouldn't take much work. There are screws where the wood trim button used to snap into the body. I'll need to take the screws out, cure the surrounding metal, and prep them for the trim buttons. By the way, I'll eventually need the wood panel stickers plus trim plus trim buttons. Since these will probably be the hardest to find (NOS?), I'm posting now. Any leads, suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for all the congrats. I'll post some photographs later on.
  19. Drove 900 miles roundtrip yesterday to pick up the 1978 DL FWD Woody Wagon in San Angelo TX. It's sitting in my garage now, waiting for restoration. The body is straight with little rust, the glass is great, the interior needs a lot of help. It runs fine and came with several extra parts. I'll be needing parts from y'all in the near future. Ennio (Spring, TX)
