  1. How come every time I walk outside and see that car of mine my jaw drops?
  2. There are a few in that link to photobucket, I will get a few more up tomarrow afternoon.
  3. A pretty penny, 4800 out the door. No rust, not one bit. I think there might be one other XT in town, but I rarely see it.
  4. Hehe..... 1988 Originally bought in New hampshire, Moved to AZ in late 89, Been in Tucson, AZ since. Spent most of it's time in a garage, BUT has been well taken care of. 4EAT FT 4WD, shifts smoothly, plenty of oomph:burnout: All the goodies WAY too much fun! The rest of the pics: http://s81.photobucket.com/albums/j231/subynut/XT6 hehe
  5. Yup, looks like I'll be running the wiring to the cab. Althogh, I might try that extending the wires and put the ECU under a seat idea. That would help keep the underside of the dash clean. I see with the ECU in the spare tire compartment, it's quite crowded. Intristing, this is.
  6. I remember that wagon! That's the one that was tried to catch me on our way to WCSS 7. That was fun.
  7. Answered the question, you did. Best to be puttin in cabin then. Wireing is not a problem for me, just trying to see if I could reduce the amount of wiring, but, if the ECU is gonna cook, best leave in the cabin. Bummer. Thanks guys! Ya know, I remember puttin a temp guage in my air intake back when I still had the original carby and that thing was above 120" F cause it was blinking at me. I think that was during the fall, if I remember correctly....guess that answers that question.
  8. I've been kicking around the idea with my next EJ conversion to instead of putting the ECU inside the cab, how bout putting it in the spare tire compartment? Would it be able to handle the heat of the engine compartment? I can seal it up so water can't get in, but would the heat kill it while humming along on the freeway in the middle of a yuma,az summer? Just an idea:confused:
  9. Looks like the ones I bought, except mine were from autozone. Intristing, that is.
  10. My wagon has kyb gr2s for a 2wd xt on the front and gabriel 4wd 87 year on the rear. They ride very nice and she handles really well on the freeway - handles like 55 at 70.
  11. I put mine in the original sensor's place and then put the original guage in the radiator, however, the dash guage doesn't get very high on the scale cause it's practicly on the bottom of the radiator. :-( Mine runs between 195 and 205 with normal driving and up to 230 when I'm practicing my drifting in the dirt; yes, I back off and point the nose into the wind and let it drop back down again. Doesn't take very long, which is good. I also added an oil cooler and a temp guage on that also - sits about 190 with normal driving and I've seen it as high as 230 when the h2o guage hits the peg of I think 240. I blew both head gaskets the last time I let my engine get that hot.
  12. Hummm....that might be enough to level out me subaru. Try that, I will. Yes......
  13. Well, after rewiring the fuel pump circuit. I started her up. Took some work, but she finnaly started. However I couldn't use more than full throttle - would just die. Hummm....I decided to put my fuel pressure guage in - nothing. Not even a wiggle! Ok, great a clog in the line? What's that running water sound? GREAT DRIFTING SUBARUS!!! I got fuel pouring out of the venturi and pooling down in the throttle bores! A Ha! Me thinks...stuck float? Pull apart the carby. Sure enough, the needle valve assembly worked it's way loose and jammed itself into the bowl assembly. I scewed down, and made sure it was tight this time, the needle valve assembly, reset the float settings, put everything bck together and she runs! Fires up fist try, went for a test drive and I can use full throttle again! Whoo hoo!!:burnout:
  14. Yeah, he hit that a little fast - done that before. Yes, really good running roo. I wonder how fast he was moving?
  15. You woudn't happen to have a pic of that would you?
  16. I delivered newpapers (about a 60 mile route) for about 6 months. Went through 2 sets of brakes, a set of front tires, and set of front wheel barrings and a clutch. But I have a lead foot. The lady I was substituting for used only Subarus. She said they were the only car that would take the abuse. She also used the 2wd size tires - easier to turn and more traction in the snow. Have you ever loadded up the rear of a wagon from floor to window height with newspapers? That's alot of weight. I am just now due for rear wheel berrings and that was about 5 years and about 40K miles ago I did that. I other words, yes they will take it and laugh at it.
  17. Well, I did a little digging and found that the controller box for the fuel pump has died. However, it doen't do it imediately. It's ok for a few minutes then fails. Typical electrial...... Anyways, I also found that I had the coil wires switched, so I wonder if that had anything to do with the dieing of the controller. Unfortunatly, my electrical toolbox is at work due to the tools I need for laptop repairs (I got laptop DC jack replacements comming out of my ears!) So, I will have to wait till tomarow. At least I found it. I can be thankfull for that.
  18. Was it Murphy's Birthday today? Just wondering cos that's the kind of day I had. My brother and I were going to go to Tucson to order motor mounts for Thunder Wagon and a driveshaft for mine ( RWD is hard on u-joints ). Well, we didn't get out of the house till 12:30 and we still had to stop by the bank. Did that and began headding to Tucson (abouts 90 miles) . We're humming along anyware between the speed limit and 90, when all of a sudden no more gogo. Just died. Pull over and check things out: T-belts - OK. Spark - OK. Fuel - Looks ok. Try again - starts right up. Odd...... Get back on the road and buck buck kick kick died again. WHAT???? We were able to crawl along about 25-30 mph and made it to an off ramp, but no autoparts stores for miles. We guess that maybe the ditys finnally gave out cause the tach was jumpy last trip we were up there. Swapped that, again, started right up and again we began rolling. We just about made it to the end of the on ramp and it died again. Ok, I do belive we have a fuel problem. We tried bypassing the fuel filter - no luck. Called home at about 3:00, Mom said Dad was on his way to pick up the truck and head for tucson. We figured Dad was about an hour away and we would at least be able to get to the Dealer for the motor mounts for my brother, which closes at 5:30. Nope, Dad finnaly showed up at 5:15 and we still had quite a few miles to Autozone. Locked her up and hopped in the truck for food and parts. Picked up a fuel pump and filter and headded back. By now it's dark with a nice breeze blowing the fuel in my face, I swapped the fuel pump, couldn't replace the fuel filter - wrong size. Tryed to fire her up - won't start, almost catches but not enough to run. Gave up and we towed her home. Left there about 7:20 and rolled into the driveway at 10:00 with no motor mounts, no spare drive shaft and another broke Subaru. What a day of exciting nothing!
  19. That's the answer I was looking for. Thanks.
  20. Cool, thanks! Yes! That is precisly what I was looking for. Thanks!
  21. Yes, short finding is a pain, but I have the electronics knowhow to fix it, just no diagrams to follow to trace the wiring. :-( I've got a haynes, but that has diagrams for 80-83 but the book is good to 88:confused: I also have 2 other chiltons, but they also have diagrams for either the EA81 or the legacy not for the ea82 even tho all three cover the mechanical parts for the EA82. They also have the engine wiring for the car, but not the body wiring. I've solved the engine wiring issues (that was easy). I'm still not quite sure how that happened......but, it apears that the wiring for the fuel pump managed to get into the clutch mecinism and cooked the clutch cable (meltdown of the plastic case), there were a few wires that had melted to the main ECU feed from the battery, most likely the CTS and knock sensor, cleaned up those. Engine is running, but it's got a cell for the knock sensor. That one could have been me, since the connector broke while I was fixing the other pices. I'll solder the wires together and see if that fixes the code. Now, for the parking light circuit................... shure wish I had the diagrams for it........
  22. As the title says. My brother's roo managed to cook the main power feed for the ECU, snapped the clutch cable, killed the CTS and posibly the knock sensor, and fried somthing that is causing the 15A fuse for the tail light/dash light circuit to blow after a few seconds with the key on. I've inspected the wiring where the ecu power feed ran and I don't see any signs of shortage. I've checked http://ch601.org/engines.htm but, that only has the engine diagrams, not the body diagrams. Got's any ideas? My bro wants to burn the car, my mom says crush it. Sombody help me save this rust free roo!!!!
  23. Easy driving is when I shift at 4K with the throttle open just before the secondary opens. That remids me......I need to find a new rear diff bushing....running in rwd kills those poor bushings in a hurry.
