  1. That is great! It looks awesome! Kind of like the old gen 1 and 2 wagons with the wood kits. I guess the similarity is only in the wood though since this forester, like all of them (in the states) has plastic bumpers and no dual range, but the appearance is stellar. The paint is actually red, not brown. If you do a google search for foreseter woody you will find more pics from the Chicago auto show in 99. One of them has it displayed with a gen 1 wagon in the background.
  2. I remember when I first got my wagon Scorpion was the only one on the net with lifts for Subarus. I was just wondering if thier prices on wheels had come down any or if shipping had gotten any cheaper or if someone marketed thier stuff in the US. It seems like they had some really nice looking white 14" rims to fit the EA cars.
  3. did vw ever build one of these? was it ever available in the US? just wondering.
  4. Where is this video? I did a search to no avail.
  5. Has there ever been a get together for the VA board members? I thought I heard that andrew (wagons only) and Moosens might be coming down. It might be cool to get together and meet.
  6. very nice. I am jealous. Maybe you need to get your landlord into subes!
  7. great find! I used to have an 86 d/r wagon. It was a great car. dropping in a turbo will make it even better.
  8. When I first saw the picture I thought it was the "before" picture. Oh well, whatever blows your dress up I guess.... Ironically, after I got off the computer yesterday I was driving down Colley Ave here in Norfolk and I passed a Baja with an aftermarket front bumper going the other way through Ghent. It had a built in brush guard. It may have been lifted if that picture is indicative of all the clearance you get from a lift.
  9. I had a friend in high school whose family was into VWs. He had a Thing that was redone really nicely. His mom had an oval. The masterpeice was his dad's bus. It was a split window ragtop with a porsche flat 6. He could get the front wheels off the ground without much trouble. I'm sure its been done a million times over since then, but at the time it was quite impressive.
  10. No pics. So far I am striking out. I saw that an Atlanta dealership had lifted one and was selling it but I couldn't find pics of that either. I emailed Allied Armament. Does anyone on this board have pics of a lifted baja? Thanks.
  11. are any of you guys using the "freeway flyer" tranny to stretch out the sube motor? Also, where are the pics? Thanks. -Jack
  12. It is regretable to see that the new FJ is only offered with a gas guzzling V6. When I saw the concept it was supposed to be a turbo diesel. Toyota makes some of the best small diesel passenger vehicles in the world it too bad that they are so rare in the US. I guess there will not be a market interest until the price of gas exceeds $10/gal. I am a big fan of subarus because they are well built, simple, and efficient. I also like all of the low end torque that they make. Just think if they made a diesel! In regards to the Jeep argument, I own a 93 Grand Cherokee. I like it. For the record, this is the one year that they came with Aisin (toyota) trannies. But it has not been as reliable as my old Subaru and of course its a gas pig. But what I will say to Jeep's credit is that it makes power at low rpms. When you step on it, it goes! I cannot say the same for any of its japanese contemporaries. If you want to feel any of those 200+ hp in the toyota trucks, you have to wind the tac up past 4000. Just my relatively uninformed opinion.
  13. that is a really nice looking car! I have a buddy in Port Orchard. In fact I went to a couple of sick parties there when I was working in Seattle. Small world.
  14. does anyone have any info on the outboard boat motor that Subaru made? I remember seeing it on here a while back but found nothing with the search.
  15. Sorry I haven't been following the new gen board that much. My neighbor has a baja and he had no idea that you cold lift them. I did a search but didn't find any pics. Does anyone have any? Thanks. -Jack
  16. "you know, if you had opted for the wagon we wouldn't be laying in the sand"
  17. I don't know much about it. It was McBrat's car. I'm not sure where it went after he sold it. That picture is from his albumn. I don't know of any others besides his.
  18. um.... I have to ask the question that is on everyone's mind; why would you want to? (I'm sure you must have expected this one).
  19. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=3984&sort=1&cat=535&page=1 I don't know why it isn't showing the image here.
