  1. Have you done a search on this? I know there have been a couple of threads in the past year or so. The most interesting thing that I got out of it was that there is a fabled ea82 diesel forklift motor. I have not seen pics or specs or anything else to substantiate the claim however.
  2. Maybe I'll see if he would be interested in an even trade for a grilled cheese sandwich that looks like the virgin mary, or a hotdog from a Seahawks game. :D
  3. If you paid $25k for that thing, I think you would definately have to adhere to the motto "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Because if your friends found out about how much you paid they would set you up for crack addiction rehab.
  4. This happened when I first got my old subie wagon. It sounds like you are not quite getting it into gear. You are pulling the lever enough to set off the "lo" light, but not actually engaging the gear. this can be fixed by adjusting the linkage. My mechanic did it for me, but it is probably something that you can do yourself. If you are in low, you will know it. the car pulls a lot harder and the tach jumps up a lot quicker. Oh, in case you did not already know, you don't want to be on hard, dry pavement when you try out your low range.
  5. Man that wagon from Chico is sweet!!! Especially for the money!! 2200 is wayyy to high for a 2wd car with a sloppy clutch. If you buy that car and then stay on this board for a while you will end up mad when you see the prices. Moosens has a cherry coupe a while back. It had low low miles, it was super clean and I think it ran fine and needed nothing. I think it was still under 1500. I was seriously thinking of buying it. That should give you and idea of price range. Plus it was in the northeast and rust free cars there are unheard of. Anyway, I'm not trying to scold you, just help out. If you really like the car and think you are up to the clutch job offer the guy 1000 or even 800 and see what he says. Then when he turns you down, wait and see how long it sits there. Just my idea. Good luck. You shouldn't have to comprimise or overpay. It seems like there are a lot of good subarus in your area.
  6. Any subaru at the Baja would be great but if you really want to raise some eyebrows, go for a 360 or a Justy. Light and simple with less stuff to break. Just my "way out in left field" idea.
  7. Nicest looking Brat I have seen locally in a long time, maybe ever. Its at the bodyshop in LLewelyn and 24th here in Norfolk. You can see it inside the fence. Its dark grey. The wheels are white, but not wagons. they may just be painted steel wheels. I'll try for pics tomorrow at lunch. Anyway, nice ride.
  8. I think it is fairly common to put a rotary in Suzuki Samurais. It seems like they would want low end torque too, so there must be something beneficial. I heard that they have to run two radiators though. One in the stock place and one inside the fender. Or something like that.
  9. It probably should have been deleted. I guess I was just looking for something that said "deleted" like when you see that a thread has been moved. I guess I am still not all that "net savvy".
  10. are youtalking about my avatar? I found it on a website but it just fit because its a VA plate. If you look closely it says "bowler". what is nasioc?
  11. My 86 wagon was white. I don't think I have ever seen a Green Subaru built before 1991. Would someone mind posting pics? Thanks.
  12. For some reason it seems like I saw one of these on ebay recently. You obviously know more about them than I do and I may be mistaken, but I know it was a double cab and I could have sworn it was a syncro. I actually remember reading the article in Car and Driver when they were new. The author called is a "swiss army knife on wheels."
  13. I don't know much about them personally. But I have seen quite a few and it seems like some came with a lot more stuff than others. Of course the main option I would look for is 4wd. But I think you could get some goodies like alloy wheels and fog lights. I'm not sure what interior options there were. I also don't know if there was a choice of engines. I can not see a good reason to pay more than bluebook when there are so many great Subarus for under $500 out there. Don't rush into anything if you can avaoid it. Hold out to someone who knows the Justy posts on this thread. Good luck.
  14. Did you ever check for dents? I know my subie had a dinged oil pan.
  15. I see the Edsel resemblance, but I think Edsel Ford would be offended by the comparison! I mean if you are going to put an Alfa grill on the thing, back it up with some Alfa performance!
  16. Ok, now that thing is hideous! I like the woody forester, but I don't know if there is any help for the b9. When I first saw it, the only thing I could think of was somone at Subaru thinking to themselves "hmmmm so Automobile Weekly ranked the Aztek the ugliest car of the year huh?.... Well I'll show them!" Appologies to any B9 owners. You should ge too offened by what I like or do not. Afterall, I seem to be the only fan of the Woody Forester.
  17. This sounds like fun! It is timed perfectly as I will finally be out of school! Now all I need to do is get a subaru. Maybe if someone has an additional car that they want to take I could help out and drive one for you. Who knows. Its a few months away, but keep me in mind. Moosens/Bucky 92, will the coupe be there?
  18. so what ever happened to pics of the outback with wood on it; the "safari edition"? Also, I was reading about the Forester and they used mahagony and ash to do the pannels, not vinyl so I guess it is a "real woody". I like it.
