  1. I've heard that if you build your snorkel in a certain fashion, it will act similiar to "RAM air" and give more power. That's what i've read in some jeep forums. Has anybody heard anything like this?

  4. I drive a 92 loyale, which is a 5 spd 4wd wagon. No low range. As far as driving in the snow....I really dont think you need low range. Low range is more used for time when you need more pulling power. Being in the situation of towing, both cargo and pulling somebody out, and offroading. Really, the only situation i've used dual range in the snow ON ROAD was while descending an extremely icy hill. I was unable to even "tap" the brakes without sliding horribly. So! I just used low range 1st gear and let the engine brake for me while descending. (this was in a 1990 ford f-150) I live in PA so i have a world of experience driving in snowy conditions, and you really dont need low range for it.

  6. I just made some spark plug wires for my soobie and wanted to post some suggestions that, for some may be obvious, but for others may help in the process. To cut the wires, just push down on the wire with a razor knife. To strip, place a razor blade perpendicular to your wire on the line you want to strip. With the wire on the table, pull the knife towards you, while rolling the wire also towards you. You will feel the wire once you have cut through the insulation. Be careful not to cut through. Place your rubber boots on now, a little grease will aid in the process. Crimp the conductor on the wire, this is much easier to do with 2 people. Slide the boot over the conductor. This may sound simplistic, but it was the first time i've ever done it. And this simple walk through would have saved me at least 15 minutes. I hope it helps you.
  7. Always give youself enough time to stop! Figure over 3 times the normal stopping distance needed when you're driving in snow. Watch the bends, and always watch the "other guy" while driving around. Not eveybody has a subaru. Have fun and take it easy when you first start driving in snow...you'll eventually get used to it.

  11. I would like to replace my wires regardless. I have nothing on my car that would increase my stock horsepower so, i guess this is my way of starting that process, with new wires, plugs, rotor, cap, and performance coil. I'm just gettin tired of waiting a weekend until i get to 60 mph
  12. What precautions can i take to ensure these wires turn out right? I dont want to throw 55 dollars down the toilet!

  14. I got an Accel performance coil to use with the wires. You said to widen the gap on the plugs, how do I do that? I know I dont have a tool for that. Would autozone or advanced have a tool for customers to use?
  15. Ok, so i bought accell spark plug wires to replace the poopy ones i have now. Thing is, i have to put them together... I have an idea of how to do this, but could use some guidance. They didnt come with any directions, but they did come with, what i can only imagine is some sort of crimping tool. It is so primitive. It's laughable. I realize i need to cut the wires to the proper length and then connect the boots, but how to i crimp the conductors on? Tried calling their Help Number, but that didnt help. They never picked up. A little direction would be great, thanks.
  16. Well, i went to the junk yard to look for a distributor, and none doin. I have crap for selection at the one i go to. I think they have, maybe 1 loyale. Time to find a new yard. But anyway, the reason i wanted to replace my distributor was because i am getting crap for spark. Recently though i switched to NGK plugs, and that was a pleasant surprise. I guess i'll leave the dist alone, but here's to new wires! Thanks for the input.

  18. Mentioned on the Subaru EA Performance page is replacing your 4wd distributor with a 2wd distributor. This applies to an 86 4wd GL. Does the same apply to my 92 Loyale? This might be a general question, but I have no other idea on how to figure this out. Thanks for the help.
  19. I am looking for auxiliary lighting for my subaru loyale. I would like the following characteristics in the light that I purchase. 1. Round 5-6" frame 2. VERY bright (over 100 watts each) 3. Light covers included 4. Capable of mounting on the top of my bumper 5. Reasonable cost (less than 150 dollars would be good, less than 90...great) Is this do-able?
  20. So, from what I understand, they only made Turbo Loyales until 1991? This being correct, how difficult would it be to turbo my 92 Loyale? Also, what's the cost of this project? I'm so tired of 90 horsepower, especially when delivering pizzas.

  22. I just bought 4 new NGK v-power spark plugs for my 92 loyale. Do I need to set the gap? If so, how do I do that. Do I just bend it and measure it? Why am I an idiot?
  23. He picked a nice car to pass out in. I sleep in mine all the time when I leave the bar, rather than drive drunk. And yes, the windows really do get fogged up. Neat story.
  24. Just got to thinkin. If the heater core was bad, how involved is it to replace? I know that I have to take out the entire dash and center console. I am by no means a mechanic, though I am willing to try to replace it. By following a Haynes manual, would an average person be able to complete this? I know this is a very general question, but I really don't want to pay 56 dollars an hour for 7 hours of labor. Chris.
