hey it a scam cuz after reading your story theres no way that ur tranny be shot and still be able to drive the suby to the shop. we almost got scammed at a smog station heres the quick story 86 GL-10 Turbo wagon fails smog and the crusty old tech tells us theat the car needed new injectors and that the timing marks were erased and needed to be repainted.REPAINTED????? they are stamped !!! well took the car to my uncle's mechanic and he found the true problem injectors were fine. anyway what i suggest is that you do what i did and find a trust worthy mech. and you know what dont go by yourself to the shop take your dad or someone wit u. good luck aight and i check back on your situation soon!!! yeah the ECS lite (aka check engine) is on i dont have the knowledge to pull codes honestly speaking. so can anyone help me

well we took the GL-10 in for smog and it passed everything except the emissions which resulted in a gross polluter (cali residents u prolly know bout this) anyway the smog tech told me that the reason it was a gross polluter was that it is running too rich which in turn its hurting the mpg and its causing it to emit 2 much emissions also he said he couldnt read the timing because the timing marks are erased he said to repair all those things and bring it back but my ?s are whats making it run rich and how can i fix that and how can i fix those timing marks so that it could pass. everything passed except those things mentioned above. its the 86 GL-10 Turbo Wagon please help because i need it to pass smog soon so that i can get my 2008 sticker. immediate response of any kind will be greatly appreciated. since this is a rusted thread what the heck is rusty jones. my GL-10 has a sticker of a cartoon man with a stash and it says Rusty Jones car something something. oh now i remember its rusty jones car saver system. what is that crap the GL-10 came from somewhere in the rustbelt. whats rusty jones?!?

hey brad what stuff did you use for this suby? i want to lower my wagon just as low as your green RX.

oh yeah i'm gonna lower my 85' GL wagon all i need is money and the equipment needed to do that. i want to make it as low as subaru_styles green RX. does any one have a lowered one with wagon wheels? i have heard that they look nice with wagon wheels. cuz i have a set of wagon wheels in my garage that i removed from my 85' GL.

hey all now im moving to ? about the GL. last week we ran it in 4wd with no probs. we pulled into a parking lot and then the car did not wanna go into reverse or any of the 4ward gears when the 4wd was engaged once we disengaged the 4wd the car ran just fine. i need to know what it could be because i dont wanna lose my 4wd on this one because its a d/r.

i almost forgot the turbo light does not come on at all when we floor it or whenever the car is accelerated. why does it do that? the turbo seems to be working fine.

the reason i asked about the trip computer and the stereo is because the buttons are next to the stereo you know the trip comp buttons what can i do to keep those even with a new stereo

thanks for the replies now another question is how can i install a new stereo without sacrificing the trip computer. as for the trip computer itself where can i find the bulbs that light up the trip computer display. the one on the dash.

well its good to be back after nearly 2 months with another suby!!! as you all know i have the 85 GL Wagon, well now i also am the proud owner of a lucent gray GL-10 Wagon with an auto tranny and no 4WD with turbo mpfi engine with oodles of rust. i have a few questions first off the passenger side rear door is jammed it wont open and the passenger front door lock is stuck in the unlock position the power lock motor for that door works but it does not lock then the power windows are kinda clunky!!! please let me know what i can do to fix that!!! its good though to see my suby family grow!!! 1986 GL-10 Turbo Wagon aquired October 14, 2006 Thanks to GL-10 Turbo!!! let me see i would swap in an ej22 in first then i would do the 5 lug conversion and put in 18" chrome DUB wheels with the suspension lowered 2" then put in a navigation system up front a 12" DVD screen in the ceiling for the rear passengers a body kit all around fix all the knicks in the body and all the surface rust tint the windows put an STi exhaust from front to rear i would keep the same color (Marina Blue) oh yeah put in a sony xplode head deck with Bose speakers in the doors and to 12" woofers in the cargo area with 2 2000 watt amps. all into my 85' GL wagon. oh i almost forgot the dual range 4WD stays in place. that would be the pimpest old skool suby ever!!! hey i wish i had photo shop to see how my suby would look like with those 18" DUB wheels and full body kit LOWERED!!! lets keep dreaming

dang i almost pissed in the tank one time i was low on fuel but then i found a stray 10 buck bill that had gotten lost in the jungle i call my suby!!! no i was just kidding about pissing into the tank but the lost bill and low fuel are true.

whoever owns that GL sure has nice seats. i know for a fact that those aren't the original from what suby are they from?

well hopefully next year as soon as i turn 18 i'm gonna finish hs and go into the real estate and loans world. as we all know our fellow realtors and loan officers like to drive those expensive BMWs and Mercedes and cars like that. we'll not me i plan to drive my 85' wagon. the question is what do i need to do to it as i know that i'm gonna be driving alot what do i need to replace/refurbish/rebuild? and what do i need to make it alittle nicer? here's a pic of the car clean. imput will be greatly appreciated
