Finally Pics of Lifted 84 GL, Lookey Here!!!
VERY sweet ride!! The roof basket and brush guard go very well together. I like the color too. I do think you need to tint the windows though.

Fog lights.
Been trying to load them from the camera but I can't get anything to happen. I'll figure it out sooner or later.

1991 Loyale Running To Cool?
With a brand new radiator, hoses, and a brand new OEM thermostat my EA82 runs SLIGHTLY warmer than that on even the hottest of days. This time of year it's about where yours is. I would say it's probably the gauge. My EA82T runs right around the same temp as well even with a single core radiator and I didn't even bother replacing the thermostat.

This is pretty cool.
Well nothing's WRONG with it, he just hit it a little hard. I'm currently looking for a dirt road and a way to mount my camera in my car.

That is cheap. But it's still WAY cheaper to do it yourself. You wanna set up a date for a wrenching party? I need a muffler, exhaust manifold is leaking, and I need a PCV valve for my sedan. You need timing belts and water pump. I'll provide the tools if necessary:grin: .

This is pretty cool.
2:30 into the vid... he must have not expected that, lol. Nice running soob though.

A Day Wheelin'... W/Pic's
Those wheels look really sweet on your wag. I like the fender flares too. How did you make those? And what kind of car did that front bumper come from? Sweet looking EA81 too.

New guy with a few Subarus...
Saw your snow fun videos. Pretty sweet. As for the carb... the only thing I can think of is it being adjusted to high or the choke not kicking down. Those carbs chokes were problematic. You could go Weber, but then you're prone to icing. Have fun with that awesome Sambar.

The Beast is Back in Action!
Hell yeah. After seeing your thread it made me rethink my swap. Now I'm asking myself "EJ22 or EA81?" do you have any complaints on power? If not I may consider that swap.

Help me make decision
So I have an EA82 Turbo wag. It will eventually get a lift, bigger wheels and tires, custom bumpers, lights, etc. The current powerplant will be ditched for something better. Here's my situation. Of course I've been thinking EJ22. BUT I came upon a Turbo Brat at the junkyard with only 109,000 miles on it and it also has an automatic. All the engine parts are there. Clean looking under the hood actually, but the floor pan is falling out of it. The reasons I would consider the EA81T over any of the EJ22s in the yard is the fact that it only has 109,000 on it, meanwhile all the EJ22s have at LEAST 200,000 which by Subaru standards still isn't many. And wouldn't the EA81T bolt right up to my current exhaust? That would just make the swap easier and cheaper. I'm also assuming that the swap would be overall easier, probably less wiring and with more room in the engine bay it would make mantainance slightly easier than if there were an EJ22 "crammed" in there. But on the other hand... a N/A motor making slightly more hp seems more appealing, especially since I've already paid nearly $200 for an adapter plate. BUT I would have to pay for custom exhaust also, and there's the wiring (only assuming there's more to it than an EA81T). I also think an EJ22 would look better sitting under the hood  EA81T Pros: Cheaper, simpler (maybe), less miles, would have just as much power as my current EA82T. Cons: Turbo. EJ22 Pros: More power, more reliable, less mantainance. Cons: More work, more money, more miles. Opinions and corrections alike are welcome.

Good Day in Junkyard! LSD -WHOOT-
It keeps water from going into the already existing vent. The vent allows the diff itself to expand and contract without pressurizing the air inside causing the seals to push out and cause leaking. The breather acts sort of like a snorkle.

my brat update...
And don't forget to get ALL the salt off that thing or it'll end up like all the other Brat's you've seen!!! But judging by the condition of your VWs, you've probably got that covered. You're certainly worthy of owning a Brat. It will serve you well for many years.

what fix a flat does to an axle (funny story, sorry no pics tho)
Wow what luck, lol. Maybe you can recreate it?

Fog lights.
Why would I have BOTH 87A and 87 supplying my fogs? I would have one fog running off 87A (which always has current if I understand correctly) and one running off 87 which only has current when the switch is flipped.
-
Fog lights.
The relay I got already has some wires attached to it, but the wire that goes to the lights is attached to the middle 87A instead of the 87 on the outside... from what I understand the 87A constantly has power going to it? So I should use the 87 to go to my fog lights, right? Lemme just tell you what I understand and you guys can tell me if I'm right. Power comes in through the 30, goes to the lights out of the 87 (or the 87A if that's OK) The other 2 go to the ground and switch. Is that right?

Have you visited the Pullapart on Rutledge Pike? It has quite a few Subarus. Legacy's, Imprezas, GL's... even a '79 Brat.

First trip.
If you like it with the 3AT, a 5spd D/R swap would blow your mind. Glad your enjoying your Brat. It has a Weber, correct? If you do a 5spd D/R swap, you should also fit it with SPFI. But it sounds like it's get plenty of get up anyway.
-
What would it take?
As long as the cooling system is in good shape, all you would need is more power. You could: A) Run a 2wd 5spd (much lighter than 4wd). Find a 4EAT. C) Wear a lead shoe. You're definitely going to need a cup holder.

Fog lights.
Ok, after reading all of your thoughts I decided to drop by my old work place and got a relay and a fuse for free. Now my next question. What gauge wiring should I use? I have 16 and 10 gauge. I was thinking bigger is better but I could be wrong I suppose?
-
Fog lights.
I'm trying to hook up fog lights on the roof of my EA82 but I can't figure out whether or not I really need a relay. It's going to have a dash mounted switch and will work independently from the headlights.

Now Its official..Back to Old School!

I need an EJ22 from this guy. How much do you think he'd charge? Quite a darn find there. I'm suspicious as to whether or not he knows about the USMB too... looks like he'd be a valuable member when it comes to information on older gen. stuff.

so my wife calls me "LO"
Try reversing with the wheel turned a little while pushing down on the lever. Essentially does the same thing as driving straight until it pops out... but slightly quicker.
