  1. On my 85 that was bone dry i just bought a kit at walmart for $30 dollars. Hooked it up pressurized system and wa-la cold air for cheap. Also make sure your ac belt is good and tight. Later Jay
  2. You should be able to slide the motor foward enough for the torque converter to clear without taking the bolts off the flex-plate. I've installed a motor with torque converter on the motor, but soon found out thats the wrong way, tosted the t.c. Anyways yes you can.
  3. aronlove, once you figure out the blower prob it's very easy to switch from r12 to the r134 if that's the right #. In my 85 it was bone dry, and all i did was buy a install kit at walmart 20-30 dollars, hook up, start car with a.c. on and after it got enough pressure compressor engaged. After that i realized the belt wasn't tight enough to keep compressor engaged so tightend it and it was fine. sorry can't help with blower motor but once you do get it working it will be a lot cheaper using r134. Good luck Jay
  4. I had a exhaust shop make the whole peice from the down pipe back in 2-1/4, with a turbo muffler for $110.
  5. On my 85 it wounld't kick in because there was no charge left in system, And after i charged it would kick in for a few seconds then off. Make sure your belt is good and tight or it will not stay engaged.
  6. Thanks guys, guess i'll buy a reseal kit this weekend.
  7. Just wondering how hard this is to replace, hours, days or. Mine seems to be bleeding profusly.
  8. you could get a decent wire feed welder for that price and make your own. Jst my .02
  9. I have a 85ea82 turbo, Just wondering there's 3 wires coming off my disty 2 go to the coil pos and neg but the third has a plug on it and has never been plugged into anything since i've had the car. Just wondering because does seem to be running as strong as my last motor, runs good but the boost power seems very weak. Also seems to be knocking fairly often from just reving it up. any help would be great Jay
  10. Snowstormer I just replaced my torque converter and that input seal. My advice would be to pull the motor it's alot faster then pulling the tranny. then you'll will see the seal very easy to replace with a seal puller. Also check to see if your vent is plugged which could have blown your seal out.
  11. THanks Miles thats what i wanted to here.
  12. I think you can just jump a wire from one terminal to the other on the t-shaped plug that is usally connected to the thermal switch on the radiator.
  13. Pulled the motor today, and the smallest shaft was all boogered up. The middle shaft comes out , and i'm just wondering if it's possible to replace the small shaft without tearing the tranny apart. Thanks jay 85 turbo 3sp auto
  14. O.K I got the engine pulled. The splines on the smallest shaft were screwed up. Now my question is the middle shaft pulls right out, i'm wondering if the smaller shaft pulls right out without screwing anything up inside the tranny it feels like it possible would pull out. If this is the case then i'm assuming all i have to do is replace the smaller shaft and torque conveter.Any help would be appreciated, i don't won't put it together wrong again. thanks Jay 85 turbo 3sp auto.
  15. thanks stormtrooper, I definatley didn't do that so hopefulley everything is still usable. i'm pulling motor today to see whats up. thanks that sounds like what was missing.
  16. The sparks were coming from the bell housing. I tightend the bell housing bolts and the noise went away. At first I thought the starter was not fully disengaging because it was a very faint sound sometimes. But I'm going to hopefully pull the motor this weekend to see whats up hope it's something simple.
  17. How can you tell if one is bad? And is there anything special you have to do when you install one? I had mine on the engine when i installed it but after a few days and some serious grinding sounds with sparks the tranny does nothing. Just trying to figure out if i just need a new converter. Thanks jay 85 turbo wagon 3spd auto.
  18. Hi sounds like the cable inside snapped. you could probably take it off the tranny and see if you can pull the cable out, if you can then you'll need a new speedo cable
  19. The bolts are tight, but i'm not sure what you mean lock it in. It's was working for a couple of days, when it started to make grinding sounds and there where some sparcks. I tightened the mounting bolts and the sound went away jump in and there was nothing. thanks jay
  20. Thanks for the advice hoping i didn't have to pull it. Is the 5spd converstion pretty easy now might be the time i guess. I have the flywheel already i'm assuming all i would need is the tranny, clutch, driveline and driveshaft. It's zero degrees here and i'm pretty frustrated right now.
  21. We'll i just got a good motor in and running fine, but there was serous sounding noises coming from bell housing i retightened the bolts and it went away. Now my transmission does nothing i'm hoping it's something easy. any help would be appreciated. 85 turbo wagon with 3sp auto thanks Jay.
