  1. yeah, i definately have power. its just a matter of the window being old and the strips are all chipped away. although i don't really feel like replacing the window, it may be the best bet. i've inspected it with the tester and i've found most of the breaks, and i'm hoping to fix em this weekend. if all else fails, i have another window from my other wagon.
  2. My rear defrost has been out for as long as I remember. I'm finally sick of it, and with winter coming up, I would like to be able to see out the back window for a change. My question is, is there a product that one can buy to repair the copper strips that run the width of the window? Where would I get them if there is such a thing? Thanks, Kevin
  3. alright- i'm not sure what will be said of this, but i'm sorta unexperienced at auto work, and i'm having trouble, with my tranny. i'm curious as to how difficult it would be to replace the transmission along with the cv joints. i have some experience, but nothing quite that major. any help? tips? suggestions? thanks
  4. after my accident back in february, i wansn't sure if the subie would ever be quite the same, but sure enough-- it is. hooray. i got the fender and the hood all fixed up and painted. i did it at maaco, and i am actually quite satisfied. i meant to take before photos, but never got around to it and now its too late. i went from this: by doing this: to this: and this: i'm quite satisfied, and i hope to attend the subaru show this summer. send me a thumbs up if you see me on the road!
  5. yeah, mine only lights up when the brights are on.
  6. "woah" I said as I pulled these suckers out today. I knew something was up, and I finally had the time to investigate- and just in time. Luckily no severe damage to the rotor, but if this isn't a well-loved brake pad, I don't know what is...
  7. Hey guys, I'm on the road this morning, on my way to work, and I notice a shaking, didn't think anything of it, as I was on a bumpy road. Keep driving, and it keeps getting worse. By now the car is shaking violently from the front right wheel, and I'm scared for my life. I let off of the gas and pressed in on the clutch, and it stops shaking but still makes a clunking noise in time with the shaking.. like if i were to let the clutch back out, the shaking would perfectly correspond with the clunking. It is both a vertical shake and a horozontal shake and it freaks me out so much that I can't even drive right now. Any thoughts? Thanks
  8. where can i find this 3M adhesive cleaner? what type of container is it in? naptha is what i usually use. i tried it this time, and i was dissapointed when it didn't work.
  9. any tips on how to remove leftover emblem adhesive after removing emblems for a paint job? i've been scraping with a screwdriver and putty knife, but it takes sooooo long, and i would love any tips. thanks.
  10. speaking of bondo, i put a new fender on my front right, and there are some minor dents in it that i would like removed. how would i go about filling them or what should be done. they are very small, but i'd like to see this done as nice as possible. also, whats a DA sander? sorry about all of the questions, i'm new to this. thanks!
  11. yeah, i saw that earlier today. i was AMAZED. simply crazy. i wish i had that kind of time, i'd do it too.
  12. I've got most of that stuff except for the outside window scrapers. what do you mean by that? Also, how would you recommend getting the trim off of the doors. The rocker panels are easy, I just drilled the rivets out and took them off, but I can't quite figure out the best way to get the trim off... aaaandddd, what grit sand paper would you recommend? or what type of sanding in general?
  13. Hey guys, I'm taking my '82 in to get painted on Monday. Before then, I will take everything off that I think needs to come off as to hopefully not get paint on anything. Is there anything out of the ordinary that you guys would recommend taking off before paint as to prevent it from becoming blue? Also, does anyone have recommendations about maaco? how about their "presidentail" paint job? I've had work done there before, and was happy, but I've also heard some horror stories, so just wondering what you guys think. peace
  14. that is exactly how i do it too. it's a bit challenging, and might take a few tries. be prepared for frustration:banghead:
  15. 1. I've been doing a bit of steep gravel driving with 4wd recently in a construction area near my house. It's almost a hard surface I guess... 2. The washer is starting to wear out, and I was a bit concerned. When I tightened the castle nut back down a couple weeks ago, I checked, and both of the washers have the word "out" facing out. Anyway, I tightened the nut up and it sounds good now, and I'm hoping it stays that way. I'll give you a call this weekend probably turbone, I work every day between now and then. Thanks a lot guys!
  16. ouch! my suggestion would be to pull the door panel off and push it out if you can. that always freaks me out when i see wheel on the "other side"
  17. will the white wheels with chrome around the outside work on an ea81? also, can that rim be removed for sandblasting and powdercoating?
  18. I would appreciate that! When is a good time for you?
  19. bad times today... I went down there to check stuff out, and noticed that the castle nut that i just tightened up a couple weeks ago to 155 ft lbs. was loose again. the pin was still in place, but for some reason, the nut was super loose. the noise is gone, but i'd like to get everything repaired. people i've spoken with say bad bearings, but i just replaced them maybe 3 weeks ago. I'm at a loss. suggestions?
  20. hey guys, i finally got the subie running like a champ, until this morning. i was getting off the freeway on my way to my last final (WOO). as i slowed down, the car started shaking, like it normally does when i brake from a high speed, but this morning, i felt it go "over the edge" and all of a sudden the problem started. when i brake, or turn to either side, the front, drivers side of the car grinds REALLY bad. grinding really actually isn't the proper word for it. it sounds like someone is hitting something under there with a ball-peen hammer over and over again. it pulsates like someone is hammering, and between strikes you can hear it sorta "hiss-grind" at you. like i said, this happens both when i brake from any speed, and when i turn both left and right. heeeeelpppppp. i'm super stressed out about it, and i would really appreciate your help!
  21. does anyone know anything about these tires. i've found them at a really reasonable price, and they look like they have good tread on them. any negatives that people know about? any positives? anything you guys know would be super helpful! thanks, kevin
  22. Now I know some of the differences, like dual range tranny, but I'm curious as to what else the difference between the GLs and the DLs are. 4wd and 2wd. Also does anyone know what GL and DL stand for?
  23. I saw this bad boy on 29th street in Auburn, WA. Does anyone know who belongs to it?
