Sconnyite, we must be in two separate worlds, I don't see anything wrong with the SVX, I'm surprized that Subaru discontinued it. But I really don't like the B9.

EJ18s in the USA??? Oh yea, the first Imprezas came with the EJ18 as the stock engine, the EJ22 was an option. I have an EJ18 with AWD tranny sitting next to my shed. I've got the ECU too.

Not sure, but I would go with the AWD dyno, there is one in Redmond near me.

Yes, most foot pound torque wrenches don't go below 20 ft lbs. But my Craftsman can got down to 10 ft lbs. Haynes should have made it clear that they had changed to inch pounds, by bolding the text, or a special foot note.

Kaz, I have three hydraulic clutches sitting outside of their engine, and one pull type clutch from a Legacy, I am surprized just how similar they look. The clutch we installed was an after market clutch set up, so it might look different then a stock, it did look very similar to the hydraulic clutch. As for putting an EJ18 with a pull type EJ tranny, it shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is the rear corssmember for the tranny, but since you are using a FWD tranny, that may not be a problem. Yes, give us some credit, that was the first thing we checked. I think that they gave us the wrong clutch. A normal Legacy clutch is like most others, you pull on the lever and it pushes on the throw out bearing. A Legacy Turbo clutch as well as any Subaru hyrdaulic clutch, when the lever is pushed by the slave cylinder, it pull the throw out bearing. If they gave us a normal clutch (pressure plaste), and we set it up like a hydraulic, then it would only make the clutch grab harder when we want the clutch to release. When we get around to it, we will pull the tranny and check it out.

Well, we got the broken part out, the engine is all together, it fired right up, first try. Those of you who have replaced head gaskets know the torquing routine, end with the two 90 degree turns pass last torque value. Well I wonder what the torque value was after those turns, it turns out to be for #1 and #2, 69 ft lbs, for #3 through #6, 55 ft lbs. This is for a N/A engine.

Well, bolt got removed, engine all together, it fired right up (I didn't expect anything less).

Yes, I used the stock EJ tranny that came with the EJ20G Legacy engine. Yes it has the hydraulic clutch. There is an adapter plate or two out there for Ej to EA trannys, but since the EJ tranny came with the engine, why not use it, it's AWD (but the decals on the RX state 'Full Time 4WD').

The only thing keeping UltimateRX from being complete is figuring out why the clutch isn't working. The car starts (with a fully charged battery).

Kewl, that is the rarest of the RXs, only made the last half of 89.

I think that is an after market decal, I think there is a place in Canada that makes that, I'll check when I get home.

Man, I don't like the idea of the fuel line passing right over the top of the unsheilded turbo. That would be the first thing that I would re-route. It does look great, glad to hear that it is running again. Maybe if you're out this way, drop by.

Can replace the clutch without removing the tranny, you'll never get enough room. I'm sure you read my e-mail since I got your reply. This clutch is not as easy as a normal Legacy. I glad to see that you got it, once you get a good clutch in the car, you'll really love it.

I know of no body kits for either the sedan or coupe. You'll need to get creative and see if you can find something that works. Or find a sheet metal shop that speicalizes in auto parts and have them make you a set of wide fenders (can you say BIG BUCKS!!!, I knew you could).

If you buy it and plan to change the clutch yourself, send me an e-mail, I'll tell you what is different about this clutch versus a standard Legacy clutch, and what you have to do to pull the tranny.

Oh, I forgot to mention that when the bolt snapped, there was so much released forced that it blew my torque wrench apart, thankfully it was a Craftsman and Sears replaced it.

First off, my idea for a taste contest was not to get drunk drinking beer, it was to sample different brews to see if there was any that I found better then my old standby. Dixie cups work for that. WOW, that's too bad, good thing you installed that switch, but now everyone on the board knows about it. I am curious as to why you took that ground cable off the battery rather then the positive cable.

Is that an Audi IC?? I have one from a Audi 5000 that look similar to that.
