  1. 1978 Brat stock 1.6L 4 spd manual 96,453 miles I lost my pictures when my computer crashed. These are all I have for now. This is the telescope I built over the summer. It's the same color as the Brat and its name is Little Subaru (big Subaru is in Hawaii). Since it's the first one I made, it's a gen1, too :-p
  2. I have 5 parts Brats out back. There's sure to be a rebuildable carb. I drive '78 that I'm keeping stock, too. The carb is definitely a pain in the a**.
  3. Thanks. I'm picking up the lock, so hopefully I will have it done in a little bit.
  4. Just the cylinder. The key is too worn and doesn't fit well.
  5. I want to put a new ignition lock on my 86 Standard, but I can't find the instructions in the books. Can anyone tell me how to do it and if there is anything to watch out for (breaking easy)? Thanks
  6. If you decide to crush it, let me know. I have a lot of space for it.
  7. Can anyone tell me if these will work on my '78 Brat? I really need them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320142796413&ih=011&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=
  8. These are some parts that seemed hard or expensive to get. At least I thought so. If they are good... lenses (tail light, parking, etc) plastic interior parts like door handle trim, ashtray, visors shift knobs dash (good luck in AZ) fuel pump (don't know if they store well though) chrome trim around bed (good to have extra just in case) axles (I just spent $120 on each) logo caps on wheels (not expensive or hard to find, but small enough to store just in case) Really, I would recommend storing as much as you can. It's only going to get harder to find parts.
  9. HI!! I'm in Tucson and about 2 months ago I was driving down the raod when a gen 2 drove up on my left. We slowed down and had a quick conversation about our awesome cars before he turned. So there's 2 more.
  10. Couldn't send a PM, hope you don't mind the info here. 1986 SUBARU GL10 AWD: STATION WAGON 1.8L L4 No issues, no title problems, only titles and emissions reports. Last reported mileage 170,014 in 1999. 1987 SUBARU GL: STATION WAGON 1.8L L4 2BL No issues, no title problems, only titles and emissions reports. Last reported mileage 180,063 in 2003. Let me know if you need more specific information.
  11. A couple of weeks ago, my Brat started having problems running. It would start fine, go about 20 feet, then die. My husband found that the points were burned up. We replaced the condensor and points, cleaned and regapped the plugs, and adjusted the timing. It ran great for a week, then started stalling again. Once again the points were burned up. Replaced everything again, checked voltage. A week later it started again. We've replaced the condensor and points, but now it also looks like the choke is getting closed and it can't warm up. Any ideas?
  12. I just realized that you're in AZ. I want to get historic plates for my '78, too. Here is info for AZ: 2 Plates IssuedHistoric Vehicle $25 initial application fee/ $10 annual renewal. Vehicle must bear a model date of original manufacture that is at least 25 years old. May require a vehicle inspection. Also available for motorcycles. To get Classic Car plates it has to be on a list with the Classic Car Club of America.
  13. I'm in Tucson and I have a few Brats. Do you know which carb you have?
  14. ttiwwop (I can't figure this one out), SDT (or this one, either). Geez, do I feel old!! Please explain them to me. After looking at it, we found that it didn't need a cable or a clutch. The spot weld broke where to cable connects to the clutch pedal. All it needed was a quick weld . We're going to find the exhaust leak in the morning then run it through emissions. I'll post some more pictures tomorrow
  15. thanks for the info. It is a 1.6 EA71, 2wd:-\, but that's okay since I have my Brats and I'm going for good gas mileage. Some of the parts stores don't seem to have a listing for a Standard so I just wanted to make sure that if I told them a DL hatch it would be the same.
  16. I got an '86 Subaru Standard yesterday for $100. I'm hoping it's going to be really good on gas. It's straight, has no rust at all, and it runs but I'm going to need some parts (clutch cable, maybe a clutch, needs exhaust leak fixed). I'm not finding a lot looking for Subaru Standard, so I was wondering if i should just look for parts for an EA71 or DL or GL hatchback or what? Thanks for any help.
  17. I'm sure this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it. My Brat needs struts, but I'm not sure what to do. What can I replace them with? Thanks
  18. I like this part... "I AM NOT SURE IF HE SMOKED IN IT. HE DIDN'T SMOKE CIGARETTES." What did he smoke?
  19. Hey I just sent some e-mails. Let me know if you don't get it. Sorry about the delay, I didn't think to look at thread :-\ . PM me if you don't get it.
