What Other Cars.....
I have 5 parts Brats out back. There's sure to be a rebuildable carb. I drive '78 that I'm keeping stock, too. The carb is definitely a pain in the a**.

Just the cylinder. The key is too worn and doesn't fit well.

how to change lock cylinder
I want to put a new ignition lock on my 86 Standard, but I can't find the instructions in the books. Can anyone tell me how to do it and if there is anything to watch out for (breaking easy)? Thanks

Brat parts - what to keep off of a parts car
These are some parts that seemed hard or expensive to get. At least I thought so. If they are good... lenses (tail light, parking, etc) plastic interior parts like door handle trim, ashtray, visors shift knobs dash (good luck in AZ) fuel pump (don't know if they store well though) chrome trim around bed (good to have extra just in case) axles (I just spent $120 on each) logo caps on wheels (not expensive or hard to find, but small enough to store just in case) Really, I would recommend storing as much as you can. It's only going to get harder to find parts.

'78 Brat keeps stalling
A couple of weeks ago, my Brat started having problems running. It would start fine, go about 20 feet, then die. My husband found that the points were burned up. We replaced the condensor and points, cleaned and regapped the plugs, and adjusted the timing. It ran great for a week, then started stalling again. Once again the points were burned up. Replaced everything again, checked voltage. A week later it started again. We've replaced the condensor and points, but now it also looks like the choke is getting closed and it can't warm up. Any ideas?

historic plates on a 78???
I just realized that you're in AZ. I want to get historic plates for my '78, too. Here is info for AZ: 2 Plates IssuedHistoric Vehicle $25 initial application fee/ $10 annual renewal. Vehicle must bear a model date of original manufacture that is at least 25 years old. May require a vehicle inspection. Also available for motorcycles. To get Classic Car plates it has to be on a list with the Classic Car Club of America.

'86 Subaru Standard questions
ttiwwop (I can't figure this one out), SDT (or this one, either). Geez, do I feel old!! Please explain them to me. After looking at it, we found that it didn't need a cable or a clutch. The spot weld broke where to cable connects to the clutch pedal. All it needed was a quick weld . We're going to find the exhaust leak in the morning then run it through emissions. I'll post some more pictures tomorrow

'86 Subaru Standard questions
thanks for the info. It is a 1.6 EA71, 2wd:-\, but that's okay since I have my Brats and I'm going for good gas mileage. Some of the parts stores don't seem to have a listing for a Standard so I just wanted to make sure that if I told them a DL hatch it would be the same.

'86 Subaru Standard questions
I got an '86 Subaru Standard yesterday for $100. I'm hoping it's going to be really good on gas. It's straight, has no rust at all, and it runs but I'm going to need some parts (clutch cable, maybe a clutch, needs exhaust leak fixed). I'm not finding a lot looking for Subaru Standard, so I was wondering if i should just look for parts for an EA71 or DL or GL hatchback or what? Thanks for any help.

Power to fuel pump
Ok, the Brat runs great now. It'll sit forever and idle perfectly, but once you go driving it starts to stop after a block or two. It's acts like it's not getting gas. Has anyone seen this happen before?
