Is there a time limit to getting recalls done? Forester has a recall on brake master cylinder and I don't know if it was done.

I have a question. The transmission on my '98 Forester is making a whininh noise when accelerating. the shop said it is definately the tranny making the noise. he also said he won't know for sure what is happening intil he opens it up. if it can be repaired, it will be between $500-$1200 (depending on what needs done). If it has to be rebuilt it will be $3000!!! Here's my question...Is the way too much or is that about right? What should I do? some advice please!!!!!

I am in need of a knock sensor for a '98 Forester.

Just wondering if you've had any updates? We found the same thing in the overflow on my Forester and immediately thought the HG. Just like yours, it doesn't overheat, runs great, no antifreeze in oil, and compression is good. We were at a loss till I read this. Have you had any further information? Thanks

You gotta come by and show us!! That would be great if the sensor is the same. We will keep tryuing to find out.

Can anyone tell me where the knock sensor is on a '98 Forester? The code (P0325) keeps coming up even after it gets reset.

I got a '98 Forester S this weekend. it looks great, has 88,000 miles, and a clean carfax report. I will pick it up tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what kind of gas mileage it gets (automatic) and if there is anything I should look for (common problems)?

you will probably have to have the code cleared by the dealer unless you have a code reader kit. I think Autozone also does it now, too. Probably cheaper.
