  1. I've got a 2.5i wagon that now has just about 30k on it, always used 5w-30 here in Florida with no problems. It's a great workhorse.

  3. All the '06's already have the most current reflash... You say your Spec-B has just over 1,000 miles? Give it to your first oil chamge (3,000 miles) and see if it has gone away...also make sure you are using at least 91 octane...higher if it's available near you.
  4. I've got the Subaru OEM hitch for the '05/'06 Outback Wagon on my wife's Legacy 2.5i Wagon...it fits fine and the wiring connector is right where it should be... The hitch is P/N: L101SAG000, just tell the dealer it's for your "Outback"
  5. Well I decided to go ahead and freshen the spare motor as it's been a few weeks and the coolant and oil in the original motor are pretty well mixed...I'd rather not take any chances. My spare motor has approx. 130k on it and came out of a car maintained at the local dealer for all of it's life, every Subaru recomended service was done. The car it was in was totalled in an accident but had no engine compartment intrusion. I started on it last weekend, got the following done on Saturday: Head Gaskets Intake Manifold Gaskets Valve Cover Gaskets & Grommets Right Rear Cam O-ring Rear seperator plate re-sealed Rear Main Seal Rear Wrist pin access cover o-ring Oil Fill O-ring Cam Seals Oil pump reseal Crank Seal Resealed Oil Pan Water Pump & Gasket Thermostat & Gasket Water Pump By-pass hose Spark plugs Oil Filter Crush Ring I'm waiting on a right rear timing cover (cracked) and one of the timing belt idler pulleys (noisey bearing) before I can get the timing belt and covers all installed and then it will be ready to drop in. Guess I'll start pulling the old one out this week to get it ready to go... ...I had forgotton how much fun engine work could be!
  6. If the car originally came with 14" wheels you should get the rotors for the 14" wheels. If the tire size diameter changes it will affect your speedometer/odometer, larger diameter will make the speedometer/odometer read lower, if the diamter is smaller, your speedometer/odometer will read higher. But the change should be very negligible unless your making a radical tire size change.
  7. They are easy to put in, look HERE for install instructions. Check my L7 website link below for more "New" Legacy/Outback info & tips!
  8. We see that problem fairly often, it seems some cell phone chargers deform the outlets and cause a short. I'd unplug the 12v outlet harness and see if the fuse blows or not, if it doesn't you know the outlet is problem.
  9. Do you use a cell phone charger in the 12v outlet that correlates to the fuse blowing?
  10. If you guys pull the plug wires off the coil are the coil contacts corroded....or not shiney...thinking you might have a coil going bad...
  11. See my similar post: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=50262 When all of the other cooling system work was done the car passed the gasses test...now it doesn't. Bet your Forester doesn't anymore either. Seems that once a Subaru is overheated it weakens the head gaskets and sooner or later you'll need to do them...at least the seem easy enough to do on SOHC motors...
  12. ...and the winner is....Head Gasket(s)! I'm either going to install new Head Gaskets on this motor...or pull it out and install the "extra" 1.8L I have...probably take the same amount of time for either option... What do you guys think... Rebuild HG motor... Freshen "Spare" motor and install...
  13. The Spec C you are referring to on the Subaru Vehicle Inquiry Sheet refers to the engine specifications your car was built for. FHI uses the C code for turbocharged vehicle's, F code for normally aspirated vehicles. Yours is a standard USDM STi with some after-sale modifications.
  14. LOL, I'm a cheap bastard... actually I figured the radiator would come with a cap but didn't, so I just re-used the original one! Off to Advance!
  15. Does it have A/C? Power Windows? Locks? If so, it is not a Spec C What's the last 8 digits of the VIN, I can run it...
  16. 1995 Impreza 1.8L Automatic, 103,000 miles After driving for approximately 30 minutes coolant begins to overflow out of the radiator overflow bottle. Car has original radiator cap Car has new radiator, new thermostat, new water pump & hoses Do I have a bad radiator cap....or a head gasket problem? Car does not overheat, it just overflows coolant... I'll be pressure & gasses testing it tomorrow to be sure, but wondered what you guys think the more likely cause is... Wish I could post a poll...
  17. That's right, the 2004 Subaru Challenge officially kicks off the 2004 season with it's first event at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on July 11th, 2004. Participate in the Subaru only auto-x competition, the meet & greet with other Subaru enthusiasts, see new Subaru products and load up on the giveaways. There will also be plenty of good eatins at the Welcome Party on Friday night! Don't miss this great event! For more information check out http://www.SubaruChallenge.com
  18. Sounds like the Cam Seals, quite common on Subaru's. The seals themselves are cheap, not sure about the cost to install them though.
  19. Do you have any other info on this, links, etc., this is the first I've heard of it being discontinued.
  20. Cranking but not starting usually means you are missing one of two things, fuel or spark. Are you getting spark to the spark plugs? If not the coil pack might have gone bad, just as a bad plug or bad plug wire could also cause this. Has the fuel filter been changed recently as it could be clogged, or the fuel pump could have gone bad. Hope this helps!
