  1. im starting to lean back towards not caring how it looks....don't think its ever going to be a complete restro car since im not super into it that way(dont get me wrong I love the thing...but more for the ability to throw crap in the back and beat it around town than wanting to really show it off)
  2. haha well everyone is different but my knees hit so maybe since your a littel taller your legs go just behind the wheel....and im 165pounds so doesn't have anything to do with that
  3. been searching around and see these that say they would fit for my 79 brat...but im pretty hesitant... http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?D=carpet+kit&Dx=mode+matchall&N=0&Nr=AND%28universal%3A0%29&Ntk=Main&Ntt=carpet+kit&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&PN=0+4294953360+4294928183&VN=4294959296+4294959253+4294967010+4294966806+4294967138&Nr=AND(universal:0)&refType=Seat+Type&refValue=Bucket+seat
  4. now I just need to figure out if the hub adapters for the 80's model works...pretty expensive to gamble on.
  5. One tip I left out...use a punch to make a divot to get the drilling started in and if your applying pressure make sure you angle out away from the radiator so if you do happen to slip you don't slip into the radiator and puncture it!
  6. Project went really well, so while it was out I powerwashed and flushed the radiator and sprayed it with some rustoleum. THe fan is set up to blow out which I didn't want but all you have to do is take the little retainer clip off the blade and flip it over and wire it properly and it will pull air from outside through the radiator. Layed the fan down and lined it up, marked the mounting holes for the fan on the radiator rails and drilled new holes in the radiator rail. Picked up some bolts (little longer than I needed but wanted room for some rubber washers if I had any noise or vibration issues which I ended up not) and some fender washers and locking nuts. Mounted right up and works like a champ! Pictures show the size and clearance. fits great and while I don't have an official way to measure the air movement...I would guess its at least 2-3 times as much as stock.
  7. Like how thin? What about taking a razor and cutting them in half or something like that? I know they make really thin neoprene washers also, might have to order them but should only be a few cents each.
  8. Yeah im sure you figured it out by now but just in case you haven't, go out and get one of these magical cubes... you just figure out which side fits the application then pop in a ratchet and apply preassure while turning
  9. Sounds like a bad ignition switch or a short somewhere in the ignition system to me.
  10. Haha my local subaru dealer didn't even know what a Brat was :/.
  11. This is for a Gen 1 Brat, looked and found some advice for the 80's and up but nothing for these old beasts. Not sure exactly how much play there should be on these things but I feel like im driving a big rig sometimes with how sloppy my shifter is and don't think its completely normal. The shifting on my XB is really short and crisp but the brat just kind of wiggles around. Think it could eb tightened up a bit with new shift bushings or something? Where could I get some new ones?
  12. Really want that slider but don't get paid till the first of the month, let me know if it hasn't sold by then and ill take it off your hands.
  13. Sweet, let us know when you figure it out. Won't be till at least the first of the month before I can buy anything else but definitely on my list of things I want to do asap.
  14. Anyone have pictures of other solutions? Was thinking about just welding on a slightly rounded metal plate to the nub and calling it a day.
  15. Soo my old fan is crapped out, it will sort of kick on and stop, tap on it with something and it will spin and stop again so this tells me its shot. Started to search on here for the best replacement option and couldn't really find a clear answer so I went to Oriellys and picked up this beast... its the Hayden 3700 16" fan... http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/HDN2/3700/N0149.oap?******=Search_electric+radiator+fan+-+universal_-1_3996&keyword=electric+radiator+fan+-+universal It looks like it will fit like a champ just need to pull out the radiator and drill some new holes. Wanted the biggest one possible since I live in Texas and also didn't like the idea of using the plastic straps through the fins to hold it on so this one will actually mount on the frame of the radiator...might even get to use 2 of the original holes. Will try and take some pictures of the mounting process when I get the time to put it in. Not sure how many CFM the 30 year old little stock fan blew but im guessing this will blow it out of the water. The only concern I have is that it doesn't clearly state that its reversable and its designed to push not pull but id rather try to suck outside air through the radiator than blow hot motor air through. Pretty sure I can flip the fan blades around and just reverse the two wires.
  16. Some blogs ive been reading are guessing septemberish?
  17. Haha yeah I knew what I was getting into when I bought it, just really love the go-kart-ness of it...just not the knees hitting the wheel part. I Started looking around yesterday and supposedly the Hub adapters for the 80's brat works?
  18. Trying to send you some money for shipping that harness but cant find your phone number and the sticker on the box is messed up and don't know your address.

  19. Sadface IT bandit, good ol Texas has a 25 year rule thankfully. I certainly don't want to support polluting but thats why I bought a little mini truck instead of a big giant diesel or a SUV. Anyways, just want to make this as reliable as possible and in my experience the fewer the parts...especially hoses...the better.
  20. Also really curious about this. Have a 79 brat and considering upgrading to a weber or at least trying to eliminate some of the emissions stuff on this since its old enough to not have to go through emissions inspection!
  21. So as im finally getting my brat running again im debating on what issues to adress next and one thats heavy on my mind is leg room. I am about 6'1" and my legs tend to rub on the steering wheel :/. SO, what is the best solution to cramming me into this thing in a more comfortable way? I figure I could try and figure out how to mount a slightly smaller steering wheel but will make turning more cumbersome and the other thing I thought about was maybe a cheap ebay racing seat mounted as close to the ground as possible. Anyone else have this issue? Solutions?
