  1. Yea bad compression rings would not read 0. you would just have low compression. But it does sound like the intake is stuck open. Even a burned valve wouldnt read exactly 0.
  2. Thank you Caleb, im not crazy.
  3. yea...... i was tired ok?
  4. Do a wet compression test. Put a couple tablespoons of oil into the cyl. and then do the test. if all of a sudden you have compression, may not be to spec but still better then before, then you have bad rings. you may already know this but i thought id chime in just in case. Mike
  5. Sorry to get your hopes up because i do not have an answer but it says you are located in springfield, what state is that just out of curiosity?
  6. Ive actually wondered about doing this with my rx. Im not sure if im fully satisfied with the awd's handling. Im not sure if it would handle any better or worse but its cool that someone has tried this. Are you planning on keeping it like this? and would this improve gas milage do you think? Mike
  7. Skip, its funny that you mention that. I got the car back today and thats what it was. They replaced the coil bracket and the ignition relay. Both toast. I guess something shorted out when i started it up. So im a very relieved man tonight. I wouldnt want to have to give up my rx. I love that car and ive never seen another in person. Mike
  8. Sure Caleb. Its an 89. If you want it you can drive all the way to Massachusetts from Texas. Yea the subaru dealers are notorious for ripping you off on the old oem parts. I was just thinking of that as last resort.
  9. My Rx has been in a shop for about 5 days now and they still dont know why its not getting spark. Im starting to think that the ecu might be toast. I need some advice. Should i sell it or try and find either a used one from someone on the board or new one from the dealer if that is possible to get. Thanks Mike
  10. Ok i changed it, didnt work for me either. That should work now. Sorry bout that. Mike
  11. WJM, How come your list has more stuff then the list Tex made for the board. i didnt think you needed break lines also. And RSVX try this for the 5 lug swap. also another list. http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11539&highlight=five+lug+swap
  12. Yea both were fine. I will let you guys know what the problem was.... if they find anything. Last time i brought this car to a mechanic i ended up paying for nothing and fixing it myself.
  13. NO spark, all fuses are fine. i had it towed to a mechanic.
  14. Thank you miles thats good information. Rallyruss, i did that test the light flickered the ignitor is fine.
  15. Haha thanks anyway subie i apreciate your effort.
  16. Its an 89 with hotwire.
  17. No i havent tested it yet. im just preping myself incase i have to replace something. Im going to test it tomorrow i just wanted to familiarize myself with what im testing. How expensive are we talking? cuz its either that or new disty cuz i wont be finding anything at a junk yard. unless a non turbo ea82 disty might work.
  18. RallyRuss, the ignitor you speak of. Is it inside the distributer or is it the thing on the coil bracket?
  19. ok So where exactly is the ignitor. and how much does one cost to replace.
  20. I finally got around to throwing in a new accel super stock. Cranked it up ran for less then a minute then died. Now it wont crank and it has no spark. i put the old coil in, which still worked, and wouldnt start either. I have new wires, plugs, cap rotor. Im lost what will cause no spark. I checked the coil fuse that that was fine. Anything else i should check. Tomorrow im spending the whole day dedicating it to the rx. Im determined to get her running smooth. Mike
  21. Do let us know denis! that should be very interesting. Jay, Is the handling really that much better that you have to be more conservative after the swap? Also what other sway bars do you use for your rx? Mike
  22. Ive read some of the previous posts and im wondering if the xt6 front and rear sway bar will bolt up to an 89 rx? Will this tighten up the handling in comparison to the stock sway bars?
