I heard tell of a 4.44 gear ratio and would like to know where it comes from and if it is a bolt in or major work, either is fine. can you tell me where to look. Thasnks Dale
  3. Thanks For The Tips And Diagrams Dale
  4. If any1 has ever tried this with the Gen1 Brat's I would like any helpful hints on the electrical. I know enough about electrical to stay away from it. So any helpful hints or the Schematics for the ECM would be very helpful. How to attach it to the wiring harness with minimal knowledge or do I have to change the entire harness ? Thanks in advance for any comments. Dale
  5. Wait til you need glass.. lol Our SVX had the right passenger window broken out and it cost us 419.00 plus installation (230.00) but we installed ourselves. If your handy with cars most of this work can be done yourself with basic tools. The 'Y-pipe" is more complicated. BTW, the windshield is $2200.00 up here in Canada, so be very careful not to break it, fix all chips asap. We can now purchase a special windshield glass coverage up in Alberta specifically for windshield's as our glass coverage here does not cover windshields. Here's a pic of "MYDARLN" 1994 SVX http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=728&page=2&sort=1&perpage=12&=
  6. Nope likely not, Dale says oil pressure is a good indicator. Should be low at idle but rise equally and evenly with RPM increase. Also check for metal shavings in your oil pan.

  10. Thanks so much Skip for the hearty welcome aboard We r also the 2nd Owner , well actually the 2nd family and hopefully she will maintain her current status if not better and she will remain alive another 27 yrs. Just went over the 70,000 MPH but at the moment she is used at least 3 x a week. Hopefully will slow down once she's got her new paint and Dale finds his hill climber as I'm more for preserving her BUT she does play well !! So we're on the hunt for a Gen2 , so we have one for show and one for play. Our recent photo's include some of the playing Dale does with his old toys.. so he needs "MMMMMORE POWERRRRRR"
  11. We paid $2500 CDN. An steal at the way she was kept for so long. We find that here in Canada, the price depends on how much you want the vehicle or on first come first serve. Just before the Rhino Lining and undercoating was done we had "1maBrat" appraissed at 3942.65 !!! But everyone knows that if you LOVE Sube's Some will pay almost anything for the right vehicle. ~ Dale & Joan

  16. Just got this new toy, she's an 11/77 - 1978 Brat. Stock with brand new rubber, Just turned over to 70,000 Original miles ! This is an oringinal California car with all emission controls intact. It has never been driven in winter and was with the same family since new. Just had our Brat undercoated and back Rhino lined to keep her in this special condition. We plan on a new paint job very soon, she's original green at the moment & abit dull looking BUT she's a gem in the rough. Original jump seats intact does have a newer stereo system thou "Pioneer" w/speakers NEEDS MORE POWER likes to blow fuse now and then
