suprunner posted a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX1998 OBW, 5MT 251/25D Hi all, looking to test my TPS. Been getting some misfires, and when hooked up to an OBD II reader, the TPS position is not the most consistent when giving values, as well as it never achieves 100% when I put the pedal to the floor. I've gone through three FSM versions so far, and the instructions say to use the ECM. Cool. I have the ECM out and exposed. Problem is that none of the connector options given B84, No. 24 & 25, or No. 20 & 6 connectors will give me what I want. Either 25, or No. 6 don't even have wires going to them. I'm trying to diagnose a few problems, from another post. Following the FSM diagnostics page as best as I can, and would like to test things before just spending money to replace. And say I did replace the TPS, how would I adjust it? Is there a place to get a FSM that is tied to my VIN? Does subaru provide/sell such things? Thanks for your time, Greg
Newdesertfoxowner posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...Hey guys an introduction first. As of 3 weeks ago I'm the new owner of the Desert Fox! 1984 Subaru DL Wagon. I just replaced the throttle (accelerator) cable as it was binding up during the beginning of the pedal travel. Heres what happened afterwards. Let sit for about 30 minutes because the engine had probably flooded from me fiddling with the throttle getting the new cable on. Went out and started it without pumping the pedal at all. Car started but idled high, revved it up. Let it run a minute. Blipped the pedal and idle dropped down. I shut the car off. Started it again without pumping the pedal at all and it idled high. Let it run for a minute again. Blipped the throttle and it dropped down again. I shut it off. Pumped the pedal to the floor once, released, and started it. Idled high again. Blipped the pedal and it stayed where it was as far as idling. Let it run for a bit. Shut it down. Got out and adjusted the nuts on the cable sheath. Thinking that might have something to do with it? Tried to start without touching pedal. No start. Feathered the pedal as I cranked. No start. Fully depressed pedal and released. No start. Fully depressed pedal 3 times and released. No start. Adjusted the cable sheath nuts back to where they were originally. My normal starting process is pedal to the floor once and release and it starts right up. Even when is 20°F out its 30 today. Same thing with the no start. I'm going to let it sit overnight and try it tomorrow unless anyone has an idea.
Hi. The other day I had to quickly put on my brakes to make a left hand turn and my little Saffire engine died. She started right back up but without the RPM gauge regestering and the heater stopped working. Now her engine stops at every stop sign and signal, sometimes just slowing down. Why would all these seemingly unrelated things happen at once? Would love to know what I should be looking at. A mechanic suggested I clean the carb, but spraying in the carb cleaner didn't help.
