OBD I Tranny into a OBD II Car?!?

Featured Replies

I've tried to search the Intraweb, and I found this forum, but I just grenaded my Manual 5spd Tranny in my 2000 Impreza L. 3.90 final yadda yadda yadda.. I found a 95 3.9 transmission for cheap, but it's an OBD I tranny.. Will this work, or will I have to find a OBD II Transmission?

Please OB1, you are my only hope!

I just installed an OBD-I 5 speed into a '96 OBD-II. The biggest difference was the exhaust bracket for the mid-pipe. The bosses on the tranmission for the mount simply didn't exist. I fabed up a mount and welded it to part of the transmission cross-member. The wireing is different but I just swapped the reverse and neutral switches with the one's from the blown tranny. Otherwise it bolted right up. They were both cable clutch's and both 3.9's.

YMMV with a 2000 though.

I exploded two 5 spds in my turbo baja before doing a 6 spd swap. Money well spent!

95 should be an OBDII

What's the tranny out of? Not all (or any?) 1995 imprezas are obd2. Just the legacys.

Welcome ReZDoG! Sounds like you found your answer, I think it's just switching over some wires/sensors. I've done this before, just can't remember 100%!!
