February 11, 201016 yr If you dont want to spend a years earnings on tires, I would just go with the Maxxis Bighorns, at least you could have a place where you could get them fast if somthing happens................ Jeff
February 11, 201016 yr If the cost isn't an issue...SSR's rule. You know I'm a big fan of pizza cutters, so my vote's for the narrow SS. http://forums.jpmagazine.com/70/805489/jeep-tires/mud-tires-stay-away-from-narrow/index.html
February 11, 201016 yr My $0.02 would be to go with something narrow. My experience is that they do better in the nw woodsy type wheelin. As far as cost goes, check out jc whitney, I just bought a set of four 29x8.5x15 ss tsl delivered to my porch for $371.00, that's the best price I could find anywhere. Schwabs wanted like 120 bucks a piece for them. Also, if you do get em from jcw they have promos and online coupons too so be thorough. I ordered mine with a 20% off online coupon. Good luck tire hunting! Ps, super swampers are made in the USA which I didn't know till I got em but it made me smile, I like buying domestic goods. Even though I don't own any domestic vehicles, even though my outback was assembled in Indiana. Anyhow.....
February 11, 201016 yr Those 34-9.50's are some super tires...First hand exp. on that Scott. Kick rump roast traction. Good tires.
February 12, 201016 yr I am sold on Swampers! I have seen them do amazing things and still hold air. Things most tires would have shredded themselfs on.
February 13, 201016 yr Author My experience with narrow tires is that they blow beads too often. I would totally steer away from the skinny bias ply swampers. Qman blew two beads at once one time out. I've sported some on my Subarus, and a set of 32/9.50s on my truck. I had nothing but problems with the beads keeping a seal on the truck. I moved up to 33/12.50. 700 probably won't buy you a new set of 33s. . . http://www.4wheelparts.com/TT111X11116X1111612X158.aspx 32/9.50 tsl http://www.4wheelparts.com/TT110X11014X1101412X158.aspx Tall skinny BFGs. . . http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Mud-Terrain+T%2FA+KM2&partnum=305QR5KM2RWLV2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes But, with that much money, I would just watch craigslist and score something. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1595537071.html http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1589520091.html (maybe negociate the wheels out of the price) NWWheelers board http://www.nw-wheelers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48982 Some bighorns and a # to call even. http://www.nw-wheelers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45924 Also. Your car will have a transfer case to push BIG tires. But will your front axles be beefy enough to not just explode when you're out wheeling? Are 33s necessary? Can you get away with a 31/10.50? thanks Zap I picked up the 33-12.5 swamps
