Are there any seats besides stock that will fit in to a Gen 2 EA81 vehicle without serious modifications or welding that end up at the correct height?

Not really with out changing the rails on the bottom side.

I installed RS seats in my Brat. No welding involved and used the rails that came with the RS seats. I believe they were out of an 03. Same as the WRX seats minus the side air bags. The frame rail attachments are the same as an EA81 except for they are 1" wider. What I did was bolted the inside to the stock holes. The outside I cut a small piece of 1/4" steel and tabbed it over to the original mounting holes. Installed them about 6 years ago so not sure about the height but don't believe there is much difference.

I put EA82 seats in my hatch - found a nice set at the junk yard for $30 and just made some adaptor brackets and welded them to the seat for proper mounting. I moved both rails inward the same amount to keep the seats centered.

I was thinking about XT seats in my Brat, hm...

Early 90's Mazda Protege seats bolt to the EA81 rails with almost no modification (just need to slot the front holes of the passenger side rails slightly. Plentiful in junkyards, way more comfortable than stock seats.
