April 6, 201016 yr I have experimented with trying different tires, but I still get a mild rear end wobble when going over 55 mph. Any ideas how to cure this?
April 6, 201016 yr Buy a new car... Lol! But really, does the wheel have any play in it? (Wheel bearing) Check the Castle/Axle nut torque (150lbs+)
April 7, 201015 yr My old loyale had the same problem. My solution was to sell it. Should be the rear wheel bearings. replace them and you'll be good to go
April 7, 201015 yr Author lug nuts/drum nut is fine. the bearings seem ok. I think the rear end is just slightly out of allignment. Any way to check caster/camber ? PS this is my "new" car. All my other vehicles are 1986 or older.
April 7, 201015 yr baybe a tire imbalance? rotate the tires rear to front and front to rear, and see if the vibration moves to the front, if so, your problem is the wheel itself. if not, look into wheel bearings. there is no alignment on the rear suspension, the only thing that can be out of adjustment is something that is bent. if you feel vibration in your seat on accel or decel, maybe you have a bad u-joint on the driveshaft.
April 20, 201015 yr It may very well be that you have a bad u joint in the rear drive shaft. Take the shaft sown and see if either of the joints is stiff. If so, it will need replacement.
April 20, 201015 yr when you figure this out let me know ^ best you can do is get dirty. put it on jacks and shake the s@$! out of your pivot points (STRUTS, bushings, u joints and bearings) find the troubled area then fix it and dont forget to tell michael appel:lol: in my opinion if its a vertical wobble its a wheel thats off balance or messed up tire, if its horizontal then id check the u joints and rear pivot points. i had a bad shake when id turn while out wheeling and it was the bushing under the mounting bracket for the drive-line.on the passenger side.. it felt like i was on an off balance washing machine
