Vibration Question?

Featured Replies

I have an 84 Brat, and when I accelerate the front right side wheel seems to shake? I have new front cv joints, new tires, ball joints and tie rods are good, have also had the wheels balenced 2 times. What could be a cause? Thanks for the responses.

Recheck the tightness of the axle nut. I've had the things loosen up on me. Probally caused by the bearings not being fully seated, but not sure on that. Just know that I have to retorque the axle nuts after awhile.

Hi,

If your are having to continually retorque your axle nut then replace the conical washer behind the nut - this will cure it.

The vibration you describe can also be caused by

1) Bad DOJ, you mention CV but not DOJ

2) loose Tranny and or engine mounts

3) loose wheel bearing

Same thing happened to me, awhile back. Turned out my "new" axle was of poor quality...the DOJ (the inner) was toast!

Recommendation: stay away from ARI brand rebuilt axles. Absolute worst.
