Featured Replies

Since my GL is lifted a stock spare tire jack doesn't work.

So I was bored and I fixed it!

I wouldn't get under a car held up by a jack. Period.

Yea, sometimes stuff breaks on the go and there isn't any choice.

yeah, i dont like getting under cars being held up by a jack, but sometimes theres no other choice. i wanna get a small hi-lift jack, those things are sweet!!

the most recent " u pull it" junkyard i went to, EVERY single car had been turned jackless by the management of the yard. Too many previous idiots who used a jack, followed by a weight shift and falling over.....not good to just use a jack on any car. Suggest to use a jackstand.

I would not use that jack unless I REALLY REALLY REALLY had to. I have a torin big red 3 ton truck and suv jack that if I take out the saddle (slips in and out) it fits in the storage hole and has a 4" spacer for those taller vehicle lifts.

The folly with that scissor jack is that the gear teeth at the top and bottom that keep the jack upright, cannot handle lateral load, so any incline or pull on the jack to the side (especially with the spacer) can make the teeth strip and the jack merely falls over to one side like a limp wrist.

That was a good idea, but I don't like to use brand new scissor jacks without spacers, personal preference...

I use that jack for one thing. Getting my car up high enough to get it on a jack stand. I have a jack stand in my car. So if I get a flat on the go I'd just jack it up and put a stand under. In my garage, same thing. I can't afford a nice hydraulic jack. If it fails all that will happen is the car falls back down onto the wheel.

I'm not getting under my car held up by that, ever... That's why I have a stand in the car.

Yeah, the pull and save in spokane doesn't have jacks. They use 4 jacks Made out of a rim welded on told of a spare tire donut. Keeping a jack stand or two in the car is a good idea. I might start doin that.

In my Legacy I just have the stock jack and no stands, I'm not worried about anything serious happening with that car. But with my lifted GL, spirited driving, offroading, etc. Stuff is more likely to go wrong. So I carry tools, jack stand, etc.

im the same way, the forester has a full size spare, and a stock jack. The GL is prepped for the apocalypse, has a full size spare, monster jack, tow truck short chain ( the one with the really useful giant meat hook on it), 4x15'-30' 2" straps, 1 5" wide x 15" tree strap. 2 jack stands, quart of oil, quart of atf, pint of Berryman's Chemtool, wench, lights

oh, and a huge tool set.
