January 7, 201115 yr :headbang:I have been given one with a known overheat, gasket issue, and another that ran when they took the body parts off they needed. What should I do with these? I was thinking about doing a head job/gasket, on the one. Any ideas? Also on the one that ran, I can have the wire harness and ECU. Ith has a auto trans that was slipping. Also a friend says it is real easy to fix that if a guy wants too.
January 7, 201115 yr A used engine is good if you need it. The problem with selling a used engine is you can't give a warrantee. Most of the Yards say 30 or 60 days. They self serve yards are getting 2-300 for an engine. If you put any money into it and try to sell it, you will be behind the curve. Cores or $100 each.
January 7, 201115 yr put the one that runs in your car with the engine that will not start and needs the ECU???? where do i get in line for free engines?
January 9, 201115 yr Author LOL. Yeah I have thought of that, but I am going to go through the wires checking continuity in my spare time, I don't have much.. Oh, And SEA DAT, WE DAT!! YEAH SEAHAWKS!!!! Yeah if I do a head job, it would only be for one of my subarus.I have a t-top brat, and like the coupe lifted, and could get one easy enough I think. I would never sell anything I rebuilt, unless it was a bathtub. Maybe in another year.
January 9, 201115 yr 2.2's rarely (never ) blow headgaskets unless they are overheated or abused, so since that's all the info we have to go off of i would assume the other one is the better of two risky options. they're as useful as the needs you have or create. if you don't have time sounds like you won't be creating any needs any time soon like projects. so use as needed?

Good game Seahawks! Don't think they'll win the next one though. (Of course I said that about their last 2 games so... :-p ) Free engines? If nothing else you would have lots of good parts. Heads for a Franken block? Are you getting just engines or accessories too (alt,ps,ac) ?
January 13, 201115 yr Author One engine I no extras, the once running one will be a turnkey including wire harness ecu, and whatever else I want, except for body parts. Speaking of that, What is a frankenmotor? Thanks Dann.
January 13, 201115 yr Speaking of that, What is a frankenmotor? Where you mix and match heads and blocks from ej22 and ej25 engines mostly. O.
January 16, 201115 yr Author Ok, how easy is it to do the heads on a 2.2? Is it worth the trouble? I might want to do it for the learn'n. what you think?
January 16, 201115 yr There are so many variations that it is boggling. (at least to me) Go to NASIOC, conversions forum and search frankenmotor. O.
January 16, 201115 yr Author I am talking, BASIC, 1st timer head job, no mods, just to have a good to go motor.
January 17, 201115 yr It's not that hard, but it is good to have some experienced guidance. There are a handful of members up there in the PNW that have more than enough knowhow to teach a novice a few tricks. Whether they are willing is a whole other story. :-p
January 18, 201115 yr Author any gearwrench, or other step by step(with pictures) links, that can help an average plodder like me:drunk: Thanks, Dann
