Another 81 Brat Bites the Dust

Featured Replies

RIP ZomBrat.

Last week or so I started noticing a steering issue with my Brat. I knew that I woul;d have to work on it eventually and now it was telling me it REALLY needed to be fixed. I has also heard a clunk sound towards the back but could not see what it was.

On my trips to and from home I started noticing that the car was getting into the habit of lurching when I hit a pot hole or tugging towards trucks when they passed. Then Wensday came with the snow and when I tried to get home, it was all I could do to stay on the road. So it sat at the truck stop until I could get it home.

The wife took it in to have the front end checked to see how much repairs were going to cost us. Turns out the cost would be nothing because it wasn't the front end that was the issue, it was the rear.

Turned out the axel supports rusted off and we were lucky to have been able to drive it at all without getting in an accident. Scary to think I was doing 65/70 with the axel just sitting there. They had to lift the body to get it off the lifts at the shop.

So now the ZomBrat is now dead. Now to get it back hoe so I can start stripping off what is left of use and decide what to do with them.

Pretty sure has to be shock upper mount?

or the mustache bar bushing to frame?

Do you have a quick picture?
