and going to do a carbureted EJ22 swap into it . I was wondering about the distributor and if there is a specific way of timing it with the engine, or if i can just hook it up and be on my way once the engine is in.

It should look like this i believe on the back passenger side of the engine.

Thx in advance for help!!

Awsome thx scott..Hope to go out for walker run sometime.

If you're going to run that disty w/o ECU you will need a vacuum pot for advance and also centrifugal advance as engine rpm increases.

What car did this disty come off? You might be able to pick one up if it was also available with a carbed engine.

i Think its off of a chysler if i remember what bill said.. And he said that it should work just need to seal and space it. And he is welding a weber fitting on top of an intake manifold so i can fit the weber on.

And if you look at the bottom of the disty those 2 things off the bottom line up with the 2 key holes on the back of the cam shaft

i've tried writing this response like 5 times, and the board keeps ************ing me up.

you need to add a mechanical advance for tuning.

the timing is about 18*+

i used the same o-ring that comes for the block off plate and it worked fine.(new)

after modifying a few of these distys i found that modding them is easier with just a cam, instead of a whole head.and you can fine tune them easier if the shaft is out of the disty as well.

if you have any further questions , pm me.

cheers, b

I think Bill said that all of the things to do this swap came from you  But still confused on what wires I will need to use from the Disty if you can help.

funny, the beast was the name we gave an old horizon, although, for different reasons. This looks much cooler though. Have fun!!!

Nice manifold!

Are you planning to add a few coolant lines to heat the manifold to prevent the fuel condensating on the cold surface and causing the engine to run rough?

  • Author

Wasn't planning on it since there is a coolant passage right under it but if it runs rough then i possibly might.

Hi This is Jerry, i live in Selah next town to you give me a call i have that set up. I have an EJ 2.2 with a holley 4 barrel on it 1-509-952-2855. Thanks Jerry

So sad that Subaru didn't Sell the Carb + Disty Stock EJ Engined Subarus in USA, only in the "Rest of the World".

We got plenty of those imprezas & Legacies with Stock Carb + Disty Setup in the Early Models, up to 1994 and Now even the Dealer Doesn't have Parts for those Distys.

I've Pics of some Carbd EJ engines and Parts Numbers in this Thread:

I believe that info Might Help, Somehow.

Kind Regards.
