September 13, 201114 yr wasn't my first thought but i bet Qman has your demon covered, so start there. you pulled the distributor? if so, double, triple...more...check the alignment, they're easy to mess up and seem unclear sometimes. turn crank till 3 marks one cam up turn crank 180 other cam upi think you mean 360, which is what it should be, or i'm reading it wrong.
September 13, 201114 yr Author 1,3,4,2 And yes 360 deg not 180 could the crank be off 180? Edited September 13, 201114 yr by pepsiguy added content and spelling
September 13, 201114 yr Did you mean you turned the CAM 180? If you only turn the crank 180...actually, I have no idea what would happen. Turn the CRANK 360, which will spin the first cam (assuming it started with the mark pointing up/lined up with the valve cover seam/timing belt cover notch) so it is pointing down, 180 degrees from where it was.
September 13, 201114 yr I just did this. When I put the belt over the tensioner it pulled the cam to the left one tooth. My bro said it was right, It wasnt. I ended up getting it right on the 3rd shot. Make sure thy line up exactly, I looked through the hole in the cam pully and centered the valve cover gasket in it. now all im waiting on is a petcock for my rad. good luck
September 14, 201114 yr 1,3,4,2And yes 360 deg not 180 could the crank be off 180? 1-3-2-4 is correct order.
September 16, 201114 yr Author rechecked cam gears Flywheel at three marks left is at 12 oclock in line with the grove in the cover Right is at 6 oclock position turn flywheel 360 deg to three marks Again now left at 6 oclock and right is at 12 oclock firing order was set 1,3,2,4 is it possible the valve lash is way off from last person to work on it
September 16, 201114 yr is it possible the valve lash is way off from last person to work on ithas hydraulic valve lash adjusters, doubtful anyone ever messed with it and doubtful that's the lone cause of it not starting.
September 17, 201114 yr Author Timing set with fining light to 20 deg with green conectors connected Like I said idles perfect but no power and backfires under load Yes I did unplug green after setting timing And no codes what so ever
