copper head gaskets?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has used copper head gaskets on the EA's? with no one making metal head gaskets, maybe getting some copper ones made may be an option...

I have never used them before and I'd be interested in getting some feedback...

It's been tried - I assume you mean for the EA82T since that's the one with the HG problems. The rest do fine with composite.

The few people that have tried it have said it's a pain in the rump roast. External leakage I think was the biggest complaint. And not anymore reliable.

If you want one to hold a HG all you have to do is o-ring the block and put in ARP studs.

...interesting - where did you get yours?

Nah, I meant the gasket...

Flat Out gaskets is the only one I know that carried the copper gaskets for the EA81. Last time I talked with them they no longer stocked them, but they still have the dies and will stamp out a set if requested. They were a very soft copper (alloy) if I remember right and didn't have an external leak issue.
