January 22, 201214 yr Just wondering if anyone has used copper head gaskets on the EA's? with no one making metal head gaskets, maybe getting some copper ones made may be an option... I have never used them before and I'd be interested in getting some feedback...
January 22, 201214 yr It's been tried - I assume you mean for the EA82T since that's the one with the HG problems. The rest do fine with composite. The few people that have tried it have said it's a pain in the rump roast. External leakage I think was the biggest complaint. And not anymore reliable. If you want one to hold a HG all you have to do is o-ring the block and put in ARP studs. GD
January 22, 201214 yr I never had one leak or go out once I started using the gold spray on sealer. I just popped ring lands after that
January 23, 201214 yr I believe it was Felpro, I think rockauto carries them. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=122485 Edited January 23, 201214 yr by Turbone
January 23, 201214 yr Flat Out gaskets is the only one I know that carried the copper gaskets for the EA81. Last time I talked with them they no longer stocked them, but they still have the dies and will stamp out a set if requested. They were a very soft copper (alloy) if I remember right and didn't have an external leak issue.
