I picked up a '98 foz S model , 2.5l, 4eat, lsd.

The plan is to lift it , mud terrains, cargo basket, lights ,Primitive skid plates, Primitive offroad bumper w/ winch.

This is a forester thread...nothing to do with an outback ...apples & oranges...

  • really?  gonna be a cute like that?  All I asked for was measurements off the forester struts.. So since this is a forester thread, kinda fits doesnt it?

  • B for effort. Not all the windows broke LOL     Glad your OK. cheers

Did it come from the factory with the LSD? I was wondering about mine. I have the same thing only green.

Just in case you don't know, you have to put the newer 03-08 style rear struts in to be able to clear a bigger tire.

Not a bad looking Foz!

I want your wheels... when I do the 5 lug swap on NED Imma put those one with 205/50/16s

Edit: Also, Fozester on here has a Primitive Racing skidplate he may sell, hes in Sherwood if youre in the Newberg Im thinking of.

If you pull the drain plugs out and shine a light in the bottom one, you should be able to see through the top one if it's open or LSD.

I'm tempted to start looking for a fozzy over a wagon for a new DD. The more I see awesome fozzies, the more they're growing on me.

The S model comes with an LSD factory..FYI

Thanks for that info! Great to know.

I look forward to see what you do with yours.

Sweet. CB fits perfect.

What's the big ol' clock deal? Every fozzie I've seen has a cubby with a lid there (which I very much like). I that some crazy reincarnation of the trip computer from the digi-dash 80's?

When he brought it over I saw it was a compass/temp/barometer combo. Proly has other info it shows too.

I retrofitted my primitive front skid plate from my outback to fit the foz..:D

It's only a temporary so I can save for the lift.

I want to put my rally armor skid plate on mine, but I doubt it will clear the aftermarket header without modification.

I noticed a bad vibration and seemed the timing was off..The front crank seal was leaking so it was time to check it out.

First off the crank pulley bolt wasn't even tight ..! The damper was damaged FUBAR..

The woodruff key was rolled over..!

I had an extra dampner on hand and the crank, gear were ok..

It had throw the timing off about a tooth w/ missfire codes on cyl. #1, #2..

Alot of miss information out there on crank pulley bolt torque. Subaru recommends 130ft lbs.

The good news is I saved it and runs perfect now...:D

Nice find G!!!

I second what was already mentioned, doing the 2nd gen foz strut lift for tire clearance, just that plus 4EAT would make a sick commuter/DD ;)

Seems like everyone's getting a foz these days!

Personally, I've been way in to Foresters for a while, but now running 2 car seats, that foz back seat (comparing to our 03 OBS') just doesn't have the space I now need :-\

Anyhoo, nice looking addition to the lineup, which one does the wife get?

I christened the foz while hunting for a campspot @ Mt.Bachelor foothills.

I stumbled on some kewl back roads to test the foz out. I was fully loaded @ 3750lbs. Skis, ski pulk, camp gear..

I brushed the foz abit , then took the foz for a dip...

click on the first pic for video..

Also a set of 15" steelies.

King springs are on order, HDPE 1" strut spacers as well.

Nice! Just out of curiosity, what did the King springs run? And they lift roughly 1.5" right?
