August 21, 201213 yr If the breather hoses to the heads and/or the PCV valve stuck open and/or it's hose are misrouted or clogged in some way, you can get oil in the intake. For instance a stuck open PCV will allow boost pressure into the crankcase which could push oil out the breather hoses. Or perhaps the PO tried to install catch-cans or an air/oil separator and did it poorly. Still no CEL? Edited August 21, 201213 yr by 1 Lucky Texan

PCV valve Stock OE Subaru part or aftermarket turd? Does it jiggle? What about CEL? Does the bulb work? Codes? Squirrel in the intake? :-P

August 21, 201213 yr Author Ok, yea. by fine i mean it spins, no In/out play and no wiggle play. it does have a lot of oil on the intake side - probably the reason for the low oil problem and it does need to be rebuilt with as many miles as it has on it. The bonkers part is: no CEL. Yes, the light works on initial "key-on" test and Yes, I've plugged a reader in just for giggles and returned no codes :-/. We were thinking of putting it all back together and putting a boost gauge on it to see.. kinda wish we did that in the first place, though it really looked like it was shot. -Justin
August 21, 201213 yr Tumble Generator Valves working properly? I had that code pop up one day and my car felt like it was in limp mode so, I dunno, without a code I'd say unlikley, but the other symptoms seem similar.
