I have a 98 that at one time had the Subaru Security system in it. It was removed at some time. All of the doors except the drivers door lock and unlock with the push button on the door panel.

 

I checked under the dash and behind the kick panel, the blue wire going to the drivers door lock has an open, but I can not see where it goes as it's inside a pretty good wire bundle.

 

Anyone have the FSM Wiring they could send?

 

The door lock will lock if I provide a ground on the blue wire as the green wire has 12vdc.

Not sure if you got this figured out, I don't have wiring diagrams for the 98 Legacy, but do have them for the 97 & 99. Hopefully one will work.

Thanks, There is an open on the one wire, so I'm thinking it got cut somewhere when the Security system was put in. I have not found it yet.

no specifics, but i think when the remote entry is in stalled it does in fact cut one / some door lock wiring. i would look for the install instructions to see if you can identify the wire.

 

when they pulled the unit, did they removed the wiring harness for the remote entry or just the unit it self? if the harness is there, try installing the brain to see.

Had the same problem. In my case the problem turned out to be one of the linkage rods in the driver's door was disconnected. May be worth the time to pull the door panel and see what is going on.

On Subaru's I most often see wires broken at the top of the rear hatch. But in most other cars it's the drivers door jamb.

 

Pop that panel off and see if the juice is making it to where it should be.

i had a 90 something outback that acted the same way, but some one had removed the remote entry / alarm unit.

 

i think this is a common issue, guaranteed issue, if the unit is removed.

Rods are OK, Door Wiring is OK, it works from the kick panel plug if I put power and ground to it.

 

Car is Sold, new owners didn't care.

Bringing this thread back from the dead because I just sorted this out on my car.

 

The red/green wire to the driver's door power locks is spliced into the factory security system wiring harness behind the driver's kick panel.

 

The security system harness has a red wire (with a stripe), and a pink wire (with a stripe) that drop down behind the driver's kick panel.  Each is attached to an end of the severed red/green wire with a consumer-grade, red, butt crimp connector.

 

If you take out the factory security system, to get your driver's power door lock to work, cut the red(w/stripe) and pink(w/stripe) wires behind the kick panel and crimp the original red/green wire back together.  Then the driver's power door lock should just work!

 

Hopefully this helps someone in the future!

 

 

find the plug for the subaru keyless unit there should be 2 of them. one of them is a smaller plug the other one is a larger plug u want the smaller one.

 

 

 pin 4 and pin 5 on the smaller connector is the ones on my unit that had to be jumped together to get the locking back to normal operation when i installed my remote starter/removed the subaru keyless entry. it should be the 2 wires on one side of the plug only one side will have 2 wires next to each other the other side should start out with a wire but the second spot on the plug would be empty.
