Washer motor and power seat problems

Featured Replies

I recently bought a used 2000 Subaru Legacy GT.  Overall, the car is in great shape but there are a few bothersome problems.  First, the windshield washer does not work.  I've checked all of the fuses and they are fine so it appears to be either a problem with the wiring to the pump or the pump itself.  Second, the driver's side power seat will move up and down and tilt.  However it will not move forward or back.  As I stated above, the fuses are fine.  Any suggestions on where to start to get to the root of these problems?

]Probably pump. Check voltage at pump terminals. If 12 v, then pump is problem Alternatively you can jump pump to battery and see if it works. Easy fix in either case.

Can't help with seat tho.

Attached is schematic for seat and a link to FSM for your car.

Washer motor is probably tired. A universal one from an autoparts store will replace it.

Is the seat completly dead. do you hear any relays or anything?

my same thought as the others.......the washer pump motor is bad. That is an ez fix.

Re power seat, since the seat moves, you know the seat motor, and power to it are good. I would suspect a bad seat switch., or, check to see if any foreign object is wedged in the seat track causing binding that prevents prevent seat from moving front/back.

I've replaced our washer pump couple times now. last time was with generic one without connector ($12-$15). came with splice connector, just match up wire color and crimp.
