Trim Removal help!

Featured Replies

I need help removing this trim for paint touch up. Are there clips, or is it just glued down? What is the best method to remove and reinstall? It is a 1980 Brat. Thanks for any help!!

Which trim? The 'chrome' trim along the sill has clips and it is very difficult to remove without breaking them. The rubber molding (or bump strips) would be held on with double sided tape or glue. These were never offered in Australia but the OEM parts catalogue does not list any clips and I have never seen these early models with holes in the panels (if they were clipped on).

They are glued, are brats are the same im keeping my trim off now after i paint, you can have mine if you bend them pulling them off

Thanks I might need it,

If you take that off , you will crack and ruin the chrome insert. You cannot flex that trim. They are majorly glued on. Consider masking it off professionally and paint over it.

I just ripped mine off after enough beers and they are completely reusable.  Granted they will never be back on my Brat, lol.
