Throttle Body time...*56K warning*

YOU'RE GOING TO CHOP UP AN XT6 INTAKE AND PUT IT ON AN EA82, AREN'T YOU?!?!? you sick sick puppy! go Will!

edit: I love broadband!

XT6 seems very similar to the Spider TB... Is there a big difference in size?

Seems that it would be way more work than what you'd gain to chop up an XT6 manifold and put it on a EA82T. Especially when you can just get a Spider intake.

Ive got a spyder laying there...and you just never know what Im going to do.

Yes, there is a size difference between the spyder/regular TB VS the XT6 TB. I have not measured yet.

I'd like to know the size difference... and if the 4 holes match up..

Anyone else running a turned TB? I turned mine 90 degrees to clear the turbo to IC connector coming off the WRX turbo.

the 4 bolt holes *DO NOT* match up. 53.5MM vs 63.5MM is the size difference. The Spyder TB opening under the Thr. Plate is the same size as the stock TB, so that material would need to be removed, and new holes drilled for the new TB. Im going to get a little nutty on this project. The bolt pattern is slightly larger. I *think* you could *maybe* use two of the existing holes and then drill/tap the other two...i didnt mess with it that long to find out. I'll just center it over the original opening, mark and drill 4 new ones, and then trim it.

And FYI: I am going to a spyder intake (SI for short, its official now!) with an XT6 TB, and I just have the XT6 upper intake for ideas and extra parts.

Last night, I took the throttle body off my spider intake that I recently got.

The diameter of the throttle body from the spider is about 2.25 inches from where the intercooler hose would connect and 2 inches at where it connects to the intake manifold. The opening for the throttle body on the spider intake manifold is 2 & 1/16 inches. Now all we need is the specs of the XT6 throttle body.

look up!

edit: that 63.5MM translates to 2.5 inches.

Ah, true! I see that now.

2.75" is what I measured on my 1989 XT6 FWD. I thought the XT6's throttle body was small. *Slapping myself*

I called RC Engineering and they said they could bore it out a few mm for $250.
