New 79 DL sedan

Featured Replies

I just bought Girlwithalegacy a 79 DL sedan as a wedding present that i think might be in good shape and possibly rare? From what i am told it was a single owner who was a little old lady, her son sold it to me, on the condition that it doesn't get parted out.

what do you guys think?

The seats are in amazing shape, all the glass is good and works, but it looks like it was painted once.

seller said the fuel pump didn't work. I'm thinking ground issue or rusty fuse block

Very nice! I sorta like that half-vinyl roof thing going on. To my eyes (as an Australian) a distinctly American accessory!

It should clean up very well. Congrats on the purchase.

Check to make sure there is power getting to the fuel pump. Just unplug the wire to it and test it to see if there is any juice to it. With the ignition on. Great score by the way. Oh yeah, That is the factory console and radio too.

Find of the Year, maybe!!

Looks like an original to me.

I've had super low mileage old lady cars and that looks right on par. Maybe I missed it but does it still have the warning decal on the drivers door up high?

That's a cold weather carb shield. You can do without it this time of year.

The paint could be original. Check the old brochures for a match.

Good luck to you both!! Enjoy!!

Another thing.... You have a four door automatic. Slow but an absolute old lady car. And those are most of what you will find when coming across a true to life old lady car.

One of us might have a rear seat back for you. Pretty sure I passed one along to ctsuba. He definitely has them in 79 blue.

The colour looks like Capital Red #89 from the chips I have. And I think they are actually seat covers rather than the seats themselves?

Yes , you can see they did a makeover let's call it.

Very sure I have an excellent black passenger seat. Not sure about letting mine go until I decide if I'm going to convert my own interior or keep it blue.

Seats under the fabric are in stellar condition... Fabric in ok condition given the age. Cuts off the seats easily enough if we need to. Its not in our possession yet. Can't wait to get it home.

I'd say its pretty rare nowadays... especially since its not rusted away given how rusty cars out in your parts seem to get.  I think gen 1's over the last few years have officially become "vintage" and are gaining value pretty quick.

No joke! We're working with the neighbors trying to get our garage cleared out. They've been renting it from our landlord for 5 yrs and agreed to clear it for us to use. Its been a work in progress but hopefully she'll be garaged before snow flies. Then the plan is to have her ready for WCSS17 since we can't make it this year.
