Towing brat, with an impreza

Featured Replies

Do you guys think I could do it? Would be after a frankenmotor swap, right now I barely have enough power to pull the car itself, lol.

Are you wanting to tow across town, or across the country?? Don't think towing far is a good idea. Your under powered Impreza won't be able to get out of it's own way.

I can't remember if a Brat is all wheel drive or front wheel drive?? Which ever, you will want to get all drive wheels up and off the ground for a tow. Which means either using a tow dolly, or put Brat on a trailer if all wheel drive.

A Brat weighs 1700lbs. After your frankenmotor swap it should be fine. Use a tow dolly and disconnect the driveshaft on the Brat at the Diff. It will be fine. Ive done it a dozen times in my Outback. Just go slow, and use the engine to help slow down/brake when needed.

flatland is easy - tow all day.

if you're driving 10 miles, easy, tow all day.

if you're just doing it once, tow during off hours too, less traffic, etc.

if you're doing an extended trip over mountains then you might want to be more cautious/hesitant depending on those variables.

It'd just be around michigan to get to trails, at least until I get the turn signals working, and install a radio.
