Best Plug Wires

Featured Replies

Hello,

Its important to have good spark on a turbo car.

What have folks found to be the fattest core available for ea81s???

8mm???

Thanks!

I have used NGK for decades.  They last a LONG time, never had any problems with them.

I bought a universal set of Accel 8mm spiral core many, many years ago. Still using them and last time I tested them they still showed about the same super low resistance of the spares left in the box. Two fittings and two boots I would have a second set.

NGK, don't bother with anything else due to price increase, and little quality increase, best price/quality ratio. got some blue ones, not sure if they are any different than black ones, thats all that O'reillys had but hey, they look cool atleast.

Coronan, if you want the fattest they will not be NGK. They are 7mm. The Accel wires have been on my Brat probably 15 years or more. I just found an universal kit with the boots I needed for the Brat. It came with a metal fitting to install in a bench vise and another fitting to strike against it with a hammer. Cut the wires to the length you need and crimp. When checked with an ohm meter these wires had about 1/3 the resistance of factory or off the shelf wires of similar length. They can be found on Ebay for very reasonable prices. You can probably find 8.8mm universals too!

Have a part number for the Accel wires?
How do I know if the boot style will fit the distributor / spark plug?

Box is a little old and dilapidated. It is a 5040K set with straight plug boots and the rest I cannot make out. Has the short 90 boots for distributer cap and another set of boots for a different distributer. I see if I can find the same set on line when I get a chance.

So i ordered a set of NGks.

NGK (8002) FE22

But the lead from the distributor to the coil is too short!!! :banghead:

????!!!!

I'm traveling to LA next October. Does anyone knows where to buy NGK wires for the Brat? Any store or if its better on ebay? Does anyone knows the model number for the wires?

Thanks All!!

Coronan, can you loosen the bracket and slide the coil a little closer?

JuhaKankunen, try Rock Auto or Ebay. Should be easy to find! Be sure to price the shipping from Rock. May find it cheaper on Ebay with free shipping if you search.

Is anyone else concerned that he is driving from Argentina to LA ???

That is alot of border crossings.   I hope your cash doesn't run out.... 'cause they'll take your Brat.
