May 26, 200421 yr Anyone know for 1.8 turbo OHC 1990 EA82 motor if the valves will be damaged by a broken timing belt?
May 26, 200421 yr I've never heard of anybody complaining about bent/broken valves from EA82 timing belts breaking. I think they are non-interference engines. Bill
May 26, 200421 yr right, just replace the belts and your good to go. Both belts must be replaced and it is a good idea to replace the cam seals, front crank seal, oil pump seals or oil pump, and water pump. Check your tensioners and idlers.
May 27, 200421 yr Didn't on my 89 Loyale. Just got it fixed, after spending the winter under a snowbank, and my 16 yo daughter's driving it.
